So far have you done anything different with your Apple Watch Ultra that you did not do with Series 1-7?

I use the action button a lot. I keep it preconfigured to “start workout” during the day. And then change the setting to flashlight in the evenings. I also started using the GPS precision lock function (which is exclusive feature to AWU) to start my outdoor runs.

I am now also looking forward to trying out the water temperature sensor for my next swimming exercise at the local gym.

In addition, I have noticed more reliable Siri responses on AWU, thanks to better microphones I’m guessing?

- Used the action button to trigger my walk that I do every day (to reach 10k steps).
- Worn it for longer due to battery life not being terrible
- Read emails on the larger screen
- Changed my complication to contain a lot more useful data to suit my needs.

How do you start the precision lock function?

How do you start the precision lock function?
It’s disabled by default. To enable, go to watch app on the iPhone -> workout. Then, toggle on “precision start”.

When ready to exercise, select the outdoor run workout on the watch -> wait for the GPS to get a lock -> press the action button to start the workout.

It seems silly but with my Ultra I finally have a reliable stopwatch in my Apple Watch. I need to be able to start and stop my stopwatch without looking at the screen. Having a physical button that allows me to start the stopwatch without even being in the app is amazing. Being able to stop the clock without looking at the watch is just as great. This allows me to watch for the smoke from the starting gun and grab a time as my runner crosses the finish line with ease. No more missed clicks.

The brighter screen for outdoor viewing, better mics for talking while I am cycling, and the tougher exterior are all important but if the watch didn't have the action button, I wouldn't have been a buyer.

Using Siri a lot more than on my earlier watches (S0, S3, S4, S6). The Ultra finally provided a good Siri experience on a Apple Watch.

What size Apple Watch did you have before this?

Consistently wear it to bed and not worry about constantly charging.

Started using custom face apps because the screen is perfect for it and battery life isn’t an issue. It inspired me to figured out how to do it and spend some time at it. It’s a feature I loved about my Samsung watch.

Was able to do a weight training session for two hours while streaming music over cellular and still had 80% battery at the end of the day.
I would have had to charge my series 7 right after that workout!
Then today sea kayaking for several hours and able to get a phone call while paddling and I could actually clearly hear and answer the caller without having to stop paddling — priceless! My series 7 would not have lasted without a recharge and I could not have heard the caller without holding the 7 up to my ear. The speakers are SO much better! Battery life, speakers, easy to read display — awesome. Does the battery life rival my garmin fenix 5? No but I could never receive a call on the water on my garmin. I will choose the AWU any day of the week over my 7 or my garmin. It is a game changer for me.
