I tried the Halide app and it is AMAZING for photos that have plenty of light, but it is worse than the stock camera app for nighttime photos IMO.

Are there other apps that do a better job for night photos?

That is the point of RAW. There isn’t supposed to be any post-processing that you’d get by using the stock photo app.

RAW shots are quite literally “raw.” You’re supposed to post-process them yourself, or, if you like what you see, then not.

Yeah, I mistakenly bought the Halide app thinking there would be “night-mode” available. That’s my own fault for not researching the app properly.

I am not sure how to post process a photo. Like how much contrast, brightness, color, etc

I'm thinking the stock camera app is the best all around. I've been playing around with it vs some apps and it seems like the best IMO

You can get a taste for it in the stock Photos app. You select a photo, tap “edit” and start messing with the parameters.

As for achieving the desired results…I don’t know what I’m doing, but what I do is I just mess around with the various dials. I try to emulate what the iPhone does automatically with the stock camera app, but not completely.

Unfortunately, there's too much hype and too little transparency regarding night shooting.
I was looking at some star shots taken on the new phones, and was amazed until I got to the article describing all the processing that had to be done with a third party app.
I realized that that I was absolutely clueless.
I would need a photography course in addition to editing skills, to use my phone camera at night.
It's like buying a supercar, and then finding out the wheels cost extra, and you need high oerformance driving skills.😁
