what is the absolutely fastest way to fire up the camera app?(taking it out of the pocket)

for example, if I'm walking near the park and a sasquatch suddenly appears and disappears in less than 5 seconds...

Hey Siri open camera

interesting.. I never knew that it was possible... I just said "Hey Siri Camera" and the camera app was opened....

is there a way to say something like "Hey Siri, take a picture NOW!" (tried it... the camera app opened, but nothign happened)

I would never use this option. Either the camera button from the lock screen or swipe left on the lock screen.
Even better.

Create a shortcut called video that takes a video and saves it to your Photos.

Now just say, “Hey Siri video”. From the Lock Screen it starts recording immediately after face unlocking.

Edit: For some reason it doesn’t work the same for a photo, you have to manually press the shutter. Still pretty fast to say, “Hey Siri picture” and press the shutter button.

1. Tap on the screen to wake it up, or just move it towards you so that it wakes up automatically
2. Swipe left on the screen or press the camera button

Seems to be some restrictions on pressing the camera shutter from a Shortcut. Testing both taking a photo and a video, I get different results based on context.

For taking a photo I always have to hit the shutter button and the photo then gets saved to my photo roll without any extra Shortcut steps. This is the same from the Lock Screen or the Home Screen.

For a video, if I start from the Lock Screen it always starts recording immediately. I have to add a Shortcut step to save to Photos or it tosses the video. If I start from the Home Screen it doesn’t start recording until I hit the record button.

Weird differences.

Edit: If I open the camera first before taking a photo it saves to the photo roll automatically. If I use the Shortcut option to Show Camera Preview without opening the camera app first, it acts like the video and requires the Save to Photos step. Inconsistent.

That might get Sasquatch to hang around. He’s probably had bad experiences with Siri as well and wait to see the response.

I’m sorry, Brian, I can’t do that right now.
Ok, Brian, I’ve added it to your shopping list.
Hmmm?
Should work as long as Sasquatch is in an area with good 5G

You can't double tap the sleep/wake button to launch camera? There isn't an app for that?

You can potentially use the Back Tap option in a similar way.

I gave that a try. While it's slightly faster than swiping left, I think it not as easy. Taping the back is not as natural as tapping with my thumb.... if they can somehow allow me to tap a blank screen 3 times with my thumb and open up the camera. :)
