According to rumors, there's going to be little change on the upcoming iPhone XI (not referring to the XI MAX). Perhaps, its better, financially, to get an iPhone XS in September once the XI is released. What is the expected price?

XS 64 $749 ??
XS 256 $849 ??
XS 512 $949 ??

Is that about right? I'm basing the price on the highest priced iPhone 8 256 at $749, knowingly, the XS is far more expensive than the 8.

If you had to upgrade, would you consider the XS over XI based on these prices and/or if there's little change?

Apple didn’t drop the price, other retailers did.
wrong. apple did drop the price IN STORE if you asked for one to 899. It wasn't listed on the floor I dont believe but they had them for that price till they ran out of inventory.

No one knows. Xs could even be discontinued to encourage sales of the late 2019 models.
I see them discontinuing the xs and xs max models. bringing back the X possible at a new lower price and keeping around the 8's this year.

It's possible but the iPhone X cost more to manufacture than the Xs so I'd be surprised to see it reintroduced as a mass market model. Surely the low cost 'premium' model is now the Xr so a discounted Xr would be an extremely good option for those not wanting to pay the top end prices. A discounted Xr should make the iPhone 7 & 8 obsolete once the remaining inventory had been cleared.

It's all speculation anyway but having older models lingering around for years doesn't do Apple many favours.

only reason I say they'd keep around the 8's are for a legacy model for those people that dont want to learn how to use a phone without a home button or Touch ID. There is still a pretty big market for those people.
The x's cost more to make than the xs? not too sure about that?

The component cost for the X was higher than the Xs with the OLED screen the single highest cost per unit. Apple negotiated far better deals & I think have a few OLED suppliers for the Xs (Samsung, LG & Sharp..?).

Didn't know there was much of a difference in screen price from the x to the xs. Thought the screens are pretty much identical.

$100 rollback for most devices, $150 rollback for iPhone 8 series

Discontinue X, Xs due to low demand for 5.8", only carriers continue to stock

Introduce 11, 11 Max, and 11R

-Xs and 7 likely discontinued
-8/8+/Xr 1 reduced $100
-Xr 2 at $749
-XI/XI+ at $899/$999 respectively

Sorry for not digging through the thread, sorry for echoing others.

Guessing about $100 on XS and Max. Guessing similar with original iPhone (2007) where up priced, but brought down to make more $ friendly add more sales. Think R will stay about same as not much more on 6/7/8 family.

Then again, Apple may not care re: profit margins vs lower sales (aka a wash on profits).

That said, would not be upset to see a smaller R phone with similar price, as X's OLED and rumored three lens cameras are not a big deal for me: phone is not primary camera for me, not a gamer or video on phone guy (have iPad and Mac for at home vids, and good enough). For me, X/XS is as big as I want to go.

It’s really hard to predict Apple but they are either going to introduce new features or one new form factor. They might replace the Xr with an OLED SE 2 because it would be cheaper to make and have more demand.

So far the only features that are rumored are using the iPhone as a charger for other devices, better battery life, and three cameras. That’s going to get less people to upgrade than the 2018 line up.

Seeing as how Apple knows this, they’ll want to catch the bottom of the market with older models. Xs Max and Xs get discontinued and X becomes the base model along with the Xr. They want to make sure that the options are either top of the line or gimped.
