I struggle to believe that this is a "supply issue" with ram/storage. Might we see the launch of an Apple TV 4K pro?

What might be included in such a Pro version?

I tend to agree with your comment - but why is it taking soooooo long to ship the 64GB version? I do suspect a new design is underway that will provide additional capability - whatever that may be......

I truly believe that the ATV 4K is the pro version :)
I personally believe that you DO need the 64GB. Just look at the original wording on its website - Apple stated that "If you plan on streaming 4K film, then go for the 64GB" surely this is wise as the film caches temporarily. Therefore a two hour film is around 20GB now lets assume Atmos will be added soon and maybe just maybe next year Apple launch a slightly larger file size for the faster broadband users = 30GB before you know it.
Now include screen savers at 500MB each - say you have 10 = 5GB, then the TVOS at 3GB, then favourite apps totalling 3GB and then a few games and TEMPORARILY you're at 45-50GB.
Surely it's always a great thing to have a lot of breathing space??? I can't see why the debate when the top spec is 20dollars - just 20!!!!!! more. Seriously guys, it's better to have too much than not enough. I bet known who bought a 256GB iPhone (myself included) has ever regretted that. I did on the other hand spend 5 years fighting with my old MacBook for space that I really really needed. I never want to go through that again!

I walked into my local Apple premium reseller here in the UK today and walked out with a 64GB Apple TV 4K! Couldn't believe they had them in stock!

I'm not sure if it caches the entire film or simply buffers much smaller sections and then overwrites them. In either case, my question is Why so long to ship it?

BTW - your point about a $20 delta is spot on - kind of a no brainer purchase decision.

As an fyi, I live in central California and our big reseller (BestBuy) does not have one available within 250 miles - yikes....

Certainly the HD version of the film caches the entire film (as does with the iPhone much to my annoyance when I had a 16GB one). :) i'm thinking that the 4K DV HDR does too judging by the advice from Apple at the time. Seems very very strange though doesn't it the pricing structure - Apple have never been generous with their prices so what the heck?
I agree though, very strange regarding the delay. Let's hope the January is the month that we see 64GB ATV 4K availability along with DOLBY ATMOS too in iTunes AND the Homepod thing although i'm not too bothered about that as I love my lil B&O A1 speaker. Now if HomePod was to work as a 360degree Dolby Atmos SoundBar!!!!!!!!!!!
