I have an original 2.16GHz MBP, and I've been trying to find out the resolution of the built-in iSight. Am I correct in thinking that it's strictly 640x480, whereas newer MBPs do in fact have 1.3 megapixel versions?

You are right, Apple increased the resolution of the built-in iSight starting from the LED backlit MBPro's.

The resolution you're looking for is crap. Gah 640 stinks. I hates it. :(

I think I'm correct in saying that your iSight is actually 1280x1024, but by default its video output gets downsampled to 640x480 for some reason. With the right software, you can access the full 1.3mp video stream.

^^^ somehow the unibody macbooks have a better camera....

to be sure, can anyone test the photobooth video effects on the unibody macbooks vs. photobooth video effects on the classic macbooks?

no i meant that the images are at 640x480 (not only the video)
and theres no real settings for photo booth

heres an image i just took with photo booth

    no scaling or anything

and heres a video i just made

    http://www.zshare.net/video/52880567a8640331/

i guess the quality looks alrite because there was no movement really..

these were with the unibody macbook pro by the way

anyone who has one with 1.3mp image resolution let me know
but i bet it just stretches the 640x480 image to be that big as opposed to taking it at that resolution, could be wrong though
