I am just wondering what jobs you guys all have. Im a 9'th going into 10'th grade student .
Vending slushies on summer weekends.
A friend and I started a design firm together, mostly doing web and print design, but some multimedia. Lately, we've been earning enough to live more than comfortably, although it took some time to get there.
but currently since its summer an alabum (i live in a village called alabang, but since im just being a bum, im an alabum)
i'm sort of wondering that myself. my title, according to HR, is "Communications Production Specialist". I made that up during our last eval period. In reality, i guess i'm a project manager, that runs a print shop. that's my primary function anyway... i'm also our database manager, kind of.
What does "communication production" mean?
Anyway, I'm a full-time student. It basically means that adults get to tell me that I don't really live in the real world , whatever that's supposed to mean. Is school not a part of real life?
That's right - it's a fantasy land where bank managers, taxation, mortgages, kids and redundancies fear to tread .
Enjoy it while it lasts .
Full-time student too. But I'm not taking classes or working this summer, so I'm going to be a bum until the end of August.
I'm currently an underemployed academic. I've finished a masters and a Ph.D. and have been in postdoc limbo ever since. I'm trying to find a real job (I'm looking primarily at university faculty jobs, because my research interests are 'basic research' rather than 'applied research'...which seems to me to mean what I want to do is 'science' not 'engineering'... and I like teaching).
I've been getting interviews, but nowhere that has the research infrastructure I need has yet made me an offer. Hopefully soon.
My recipe for success (a work in progress):
1 part graduate student (International Relations)
2 parts freelance web-design (emphasis on artsy side) and dv-editor
1 part food-service slave (to negate the solitary lifestyle of above part)
serve over economic recessional effects
(and people say I lack direction...I have three...)
I design houses, apartment buildings, and stuff like that. Plus I keep track of them while their being built, deal with the ordering and the subs and the city/county people.
Finally not a student, thankfully!
Really? Me too...
Corporate Communications for a Fortune 1000 company and freelance writer, Web designer and photographer
Need a freelance writer?
I write news releases, fact sheets, Web copy, byline articles, media pitches, etc.
I'm unemployed now, I finished high school last year and have been wandering aimlessly ever since

Duff-Man says....when not promoting Duff-branded beer on the Fox network, I work as an I.T. Analyst....oh yeah!
4th year college student, one more year! and then two for grad school and some more for that phd....ahhh...
well im working at Wilsons Leather Outlet in a mall to make some change to support a semi-functional normal life
Security Guard. I get to sit up all night and watch for fire, yes fire because this is a small town in Canada and can some one please tell me where the criminals are? I mean the only place in Canada that need a Guard is Toronto.
Well at least it's only for the summer, gotta get to college so I can move back to the U.S. so I can see some crime. I mean I am used to a murder like once a week in Colorado not like Toronto where there's one like every 2 months.
After 8 years of freelance photography and graphic design I bit the bullet and became a full time Art Director at an ad agency. after a few years of that I was promoted to Senior Art Director and then Creative Director.
Without the Mac I'd still be a fine artist - I developed traditional (pen, paper, paint, etc.) skills in undergrad. The Mac art skills didn't really come into play until Photoshop 2.0 came out.
My advice, if you want to go into graphic design - learn to draw, paint, photograph, etc. - There is no substitute for pure creative thought. Strive to be well rounded - traditional art skills, a sense of history and trends and solid graphics app. knowledge combined is a very potent mix.
else- happily unemployed!
retired from the first career...
and i'm fine w/ that.
gettin a masters in teaching
I run the mold shop at a toy/product prototype company. We make anything from action figures to mini busts to Sponge Bob candy containers. Pretty much anything a client pays to have done. We also do laser scanning for movies, video games, etc. Every once in awhile, we'll have some celebrity come in for a scan. A few weeks ago, on one day, we had "The Terminator"(Schwarzenegger), "Darth Maul"(Ray Parks), and "Boba Fett"(the kid from E2) come in. It has its ups and downs, but all in all, it's a pretty cool job.
Career changer. Developing a videography business. Taught school for several years. Seeking to learn all I can about multimedia production. I'm probably among the older, 40+ guys, on this site. Really envy you younger guys who are growing up with the latest media production technology.
