What caliber is your favorite for conceal carry? I am kind of partial to the 9mm. Enough punch without too much recoil on smaller guns.

True, but the stopping power is a little on the week side ;)

Torn. Just picked up a new M&P Shield 9, not a ton better for carrying than my PT745 but a little more comfortable. It will really show the comfort when wearing shorts though. I do prefer the impact of a .45 over a 9 but if I'm not carrying the .45 because it's just not convenient that day, then it's really not doing the job is it. Good to have options I say. ;)

I don't conceal carry, not my thing. I voted for .45 though.

    I like the .55

    It has 18% higher numbers.

That is something important when it comes to most things. Bigger is better.

Bullet-maker R&D has made many smaller calibers more effective than in the past. Holds true for the 9mm as well as the rather marginal .380.

I recall a coroner's report which stated than any of the five hits from a .38 Special +P Hydra-Shok would have been fatal.

While I've always like the Colt Lightweight Commander as a carry gun, arthritis has me toting a S&W 642CT these days. Gives a whole new meaning to "Light 'em up!"

18", but those howitzers are quite tricky to put in a holster.

I was looking at the M&P Shield. Are you happy with it? Any regrets? Does it come with an extra magazine? And last question. Do you think the 40 version would have too much recoil for that gun size?

It's always entertaining when threads turn in gungasms.

    Here's a towel. I think you'll need it.

    .50 caliber, why fool around.

Actually I never use Calibre, I carry my DRM'd books around
with their own specific apps... but it's annoying I must say.

You're about the age where FTF and FTE can become a problem.

This thread is useless without pictures. Currently this is my favorite, FNX 45 Tactical, minus the suppressor of course. Nothing is better than 15 rounds of .45. I put the suppressor on to go hunting the first time I went after my State allowed their use. I rotate through a few different pistols for carry. Most are .40, but I have 9mm and .45

I don't own a gun or conceal a weapon. If I did carry it would be in the backcountry on hikes; and it would be 10mm.

I used to carry 9 or 380. Carrying is such a PITA...I hate it. I don't live or go where I'd likely need it. I like the freedom.

Too early to say if I am "really" happy with it until I get a few hundred rounds through it. FWIW, I had many others on my list and narrowed it down to this one after seeing all of them for one reason or another.

It does come with an extra clip and a lock but that is it. They don't spoil you like when you buy an XD and get an extra clip, clip holster, loader, etc. You don't even get a nice plastic case. :(

I would not be afraid to get it in .40, my one .45 is only a little bit bigger and shoots really nice.

Depends on the time of year. In the summer months I carry my .45. In the winter I drop my .44 Special in a pocket and go. Or I might carry my .357. Depends on the weather more than anything else.

Personally, I prefer wooden 2 x 4, or 1 inch steel bar. Both very effective, and no permit required. :D

Talking about golf makes me a little hot.

But do we ever discuss that kind of equipment in PRSI?

    Nooo.

Used to have a length of 2x4 in my hatchback, ostensibly to prop up the hatch... but it did come in handy once for the purpose of distracting a deranged woman who was walking around stopped cars in a traffic jam muttering imprecations about how she was "gonna get them all"... Around the time she started pounding on car hoods I grabbed the 2x4 out the back of my car and whiffed it around in the air and said to her like "Yeah c'mon I'll help you let's go get them together!!" and she like to seized up then, backed off this guy's car she was pounding on, looked at me warily, backed up some more and then wandered off down an alley. I kept that thing under the seat after that... forget about propping the hatch, I figured I might get stuck at 180th again sometime and need the magic wand sooner than I had fished it out of the back of the car that day.

.40. Love the Glock 27. Easy to conceal and will fire every time you squeeze the trigger (at least for me).
