Me, I like the smart phone the best currently. I have a Blackberry (or Crackberry if you will) and love all the Applications that connect me to my world. I can take pictures with my phone an upload them to my Facebook account directly. I recently told my brother about this so I can see more recent pictures of my niece.
I also like apps like Schlage LiNK that are more practical. It connects to my home security system to remotely lock the front door, turn off lights, monitor with security cameras and adjust the thermostat through either my phone or computer. It is great for me because like the woman in the new iPhone commercial it was featured in I will forget whether or not I turned off my lights before I leave for vacation and it is comforting to find out.
I found out recently they are having a $50 rebate on Schlage LiNK as well. I highly recommend checking it out before the rebate ends on April 30th.
My favorite is Apple's iPhone/iPod Touch/upcoming iPad. The feel of the multi touch is such an improvement in the way one uses a computer. It will be an even better experience on a larger screen. Can't wait for this Saturday!
As limited as it may be at the moment, it's definitely paving the way for the future of Mac OS (X?).
Mine would be the Xbox 360. Online gaming has added so much to video games that I don't think I could go back to playing single player only games exclusively.
The camcorder.
It allows people to record other people and remember them forever.
Still pictures are great, but humans are living beings with personalities. Watching a video of a relative who has been dead for a few years can bring out the emotions in people.
I bring a camcorder at every family gathering.
Multitouch, not for so much now as for the future, the applications are endless, when the window in my office is made of a transparent 12 foot multitouch display, I will be ecstatic.
At this exact moment, e-ink. I got a Barnes and Noble Nook a few weeks ago and have been absolutely glued to it since. Somehow I enjoy reading it even more than regular books, and infinitely more than reading things on my computer screen. I'm finally getting around to reading those books in pdf format that I've had on my computer for years!
Definitely the power grid. Without it, none of my other gadgets would work or even exist! The internet is nice, too.
I've really been glued to my PS3 lately. Final Fantasy XIII has consumed 60 hours of my life these past three weeks. I promised myself last night that I would not touch the controller again until the weekend in order to finish all the work that's been piling up around me. Deadlines only justify my procrastination, until things come due and I cram two weeks worth of work into two days.
