Just a basic poll to see the numbers on macrumors.

    EDIT: Mods- I can't add a poll?

    I was thinking of having:
    Christianity
    Islam
    Non-religious
    Hindu
    Jewish

    and Other
    as options.

Personally, as an atheist-agnostic, yarrow-using hedonist, I'd like to see a breakdown of Christianity into more categories because there seems to a huge divergence within the various Christian churches and even within the various denominations themselves.

I don't think a poll is that helpful in having a discussion about people's faiths; there are some nuances that can't be captured in such a crude manner. Besides, you forgot Buddhists. ;)

Nobody should be surprised that I'm at the atheist end of agnostic. The agnostic bit because I would change my opinion if later proof surfaced, but in the absence of credible evidence I'm certain the idea of a deity's existence is down to people rather than any outside power.

athiest. if there was a 'god', there is no way he/she/they would let the s*** that's happening on Earth continue. Humans are not divine beings; we are simply animals who have evolved to have a conscience (well some of us) and appendages to make living easier for ourselves (or harder for other animals).

if there is a hell, i'll see you there (Nine Inch Nails reference)

Asking a question like that here in Ireland has resulted in many people being shot ...

Ask me something else .. :)

I think there are valid reasons for not believing in God, but I personally never really "got" that one.

Many faiths believe that God does not interfere with us because he gave us free will.

I belong to The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (you could just use "meatball" in the poll).

It was meant to be a satirical comment on all the sub-divisions that religions go in for.

I have no idea what I am. Technically I'm supposed to be Jewish, but I really don't have any of the beliefs. Then my fathers side is traditionally more Christian so I have all those traditions as well. It's very confusing, so I just make up my own mind of what I believe.

I'm not a big fan of extreme religion, but I think that you should believe what you want as long as you don't try to impose your beliefs on others.

Completely agnostic. I think there's something, be it just ghosts, God or little aliens making stuff happen.

Lutheran, but I'm very understanding of other religions/cultures (or non-religions), and do my best not to impose my beliefs on others.

I accept the fact that I have no poof of my God, nor do I believe that Lutheranism is the only "correct" religion. People need to accept that they do not have any proof for their religion, and others should be free to believe whatever they want.

Basically, I just wish we could all get along. :)

I'd like to be a scientist, but as I'm not very good at math, I'm only a regular atheist. :D

I'm jewish but agnostic towards divinity. I like Judaism for the certain cultural togetherness it brings as well as its openness towards different interpretations of scripture (which I feel wasn't a set of strict rules or fact but merely stories to tie people together and basic guidelines for creating a safe and prosperous society... not eating pork because pigs carried many diseases back then, etc.)
