Since alot of people actually put up with edge data speeds on T-mobile currently I thought you guys might wanna know about this (although it only applies to a couple of states so far).

"Reports have been circulating that T-Mobile has turned on 3G coverage for frequencies that unlocked versions of the Apple iPhone can use. The reports have been coming in from Nevada, Northern California and other parts of the Northwest and deal with the 1900MHz frequency that the nation's fourth largest carrier wants to use as additional carrying space for its HSPA+ update to 84Mbps next year. Network speeds at 7.92Mbps down and 1.8Mbps up have been faster than that found on AT&T's 3G network."

There's been numerous reports on HoFo. Apparently, they have extra PCS spectrum that they don't need for 2G, so they are using it for UMTS, as they have the Vibrant, Vibrant 4G, the Gnex (unofficially but those users are probably using 10x as much data as average), and data cards (which are also probably heavy duty data users). It kind of makes sense, although not really...

I'm betting they are running it around Mountain View if they have the spectrum down there, as there are obviously a crapload of high-usage Gnex'es around there.
