Calendar for appointments, etc with tweak for DND. It's free and does reasonably well. I'm not a heavy user.

The Reminder app sucks...I use Swipes instead, but there are plenty of free choices.

I steer clear of Google apps other than Google Maps. Their usage Eula and privacy are suspect.

I don't use Reminders at all. I set calendar events instead, since 99.99% of the things I want reminders for are repeated (like time to leave for work, or book my gym classes as soon as on line booking opens).

I prefer Month Cal for the calendar, it has by far the most information on the screen at one time - a whole month at a time! It might not work so well for folks that have several appointments per day.

I use the Calendar app for all my appts - work and personal. I just use different sub-calendars with different colors to differentiate them. I'd like to use the Reminder app, but it has so little functionality. As a result, I use Todo Cloud.

Apple's Reminders app looks cartoonish and doesn't have customizable Snooze functions. It's a pretty pathetic app actually. I use "Due" by Due Apps. It is solid. I use it for any repeating tasks or things I have to be very sure not to forget.

And the built in Calendar app is worse than the Reminders app. Now that I think about it how does Apple think that these are acceptable solutions? I use Calendars 5. Use it for meetings, appointments, birthdays, events, etc.

I use calendar for my work schedule as it changes everyday. I deleted the reminders app as it was not good enough for me. I use an app called "DUE" and that one will bug the crap out of you until you actually do what you wanted it to remind you to do, works with the Apple Watch as well. And I use notes for making lists that allow you to check things off.

I use reminders way more than the calendar.

I set reminders for all sorts of things. "remind me at 3:00pm to get dog food from costco", "remind me in 11 months to cancel my Hyatt credit card"

water the plants, take out the trash, pay the cell phone bill, call my mom, book a vacation, go to the doctor, etc

Something that persistent w/o a way to turn off would bug the heck out of me.

Oh, no you can turn if off anytime, or you can add more time to it or even another day, week or year. It's an amazing tool. My frustration with reminders is the fact that it only reminds you once and if you miss it, oh well.

Agree that Reminders plain stinks.

I really don't how anyone uses that when there are a number of good FREE alternatives.

I don't really use calendar all that much besides it syncing with Facebook for my upcoming events. I use reminders everyday though to keep track of things I need to do, for example "cancel apple music trial on xx/xx", "check so&so and see if their internship spots are open on xx/xx" as well as homework assignments just in case I forget.

I use WidgetCal, because it has a widget that shows a whole month with events for each day. May not be the only one, but it's the one I found and started using. I used Fantastical in the past, and except for the widget, it is as good or better. Despite the flaws and lack of features, I still use Apple's stock reminders app out of laziness. Things I have done include:

Put an annual reminder of a festival or recurring event (concert, longhorn cattle drive--seriously!, tourist type stuff)

Put in monthly reminders of a book I want to read or other long-term stuff that isn't urgent, but that I want to do (park I want to visit, old friend I want to look up)

Daily reminders to file travel claims from work, entered in while I'm still on travel status, to start soon after I return.

It occurs to me I should put in a nagging reminder to find a new reminder app and start using it....

Because Siri automatically uses Reminders on voice commands...maybe people just havent explored other options.

Now that ios10 opens things up a bit... maybe things will change.

I use Reminders and along with Fantastical integration find it a great option. Was using Wunderlist but didn't really like the widget and didn't integrate with Fantastical. I check my calendar/reminders once a day to see what I have to do everyday, no app is going to do it for you. So for some, Reminders works great

If you have to ask this question then your life is blissfully simple and don't need any organizing. You live on the moment, good for you!

Since saying I never used Reminders, I found I had a reason to use it; something important I had to do when I got home. Location based reminders are brilliant!

I use Siri to set reminders all the time. That's the only reason I use it, dont really interact with the app itself almost ever.
