If I were to buy an iPad today, what version of iOS can I expect for it to come pre-installed with?

So it's highly doubtful if I purchase an iPad today it won't have iOS 9.3.3?

It depends on the iPad (the Air 1 and Mini 2 might) but its hard to tell without a way of seeing the manufacturing date.

When what manufacturing date should I aim for if I want to purchase an iPad Air 2 with iOS 9.3.3? Can i look on the box for this information?

Just out of curiosity, why does it matter? For jailbreaking purposes?

    Obviously.

But Luck of the draw as to what iOS you get. I'm sure 9.3.3 devices are out there yet to be shipped out.

If that's all, I'm sure 9.3.4 and 9.3.5 will be cracked eventually. They always are.

No device on sale now will come with iOS 10. It's only been released as a beta. Presumably the first devices that will ship with it are the iPhone 7/7+.
