I have a macbook pro, 2.4ghz intel and recently picked up logitech's x540 5.1 surround sound speakers.

I know need a good external usb sound card to push the 5.1 surround sound to its fullest

I've been looking around and two caught my attention so far. The Griffin Firewave (which has been discontinued) and the Creative Labs SB1090 USB Sound Blaster X-Fi.

The griffin seems to be fully compatible, but I occasionally game on my windows xp bootcamp parition.. and have read that it is not compatible with windows.

The creative one however is, but of course we all know creative labs doesnt realize that there are actually other OS systems out there other than Windows. Ive searched and found that people were able to get it to work on their macs, others havnt..

I need a definite answer :(

Or if anyone can recommend another one that I didnt mention, i'd be forever thankful!

Thanks again!

I would just get a real surround sound system with a real reciever to take care of the convertion from digital to analog signals.
