I have the 2.2ghz SR MBP and want to go to 4gb from 2gb, what's the best deal right now?
Almost always it's OWC (Other World Computing), a long time 3rd party Apple reseller. They'll even give you trade-in on your old RAM if you want. It's not a lot, but hey! - it might cover shipping....
I found it for $87.99 on amazon, but its Kingston ValueRAM, is that ok to use?
And do you need more RAM?
Yes, I keep going into swap, from having Aperture, iMovie, Safari (10 tabs average), iTunes, Transmission, Transmit, Adium, iChat, Mail.app, Photoshop, to name a few always running. I try to clean up and only run what I need, but unfortunately 2 gigs just doesn't appear to be enough.
I see; a lot people buy an upgrade because of the whole hype.
I can see what you mean; I have that Kingston RAM. It works!

why can't people do their own research on topics like this?
Because people keep answering them.
Why waste time finding it yourself when others will do it willingly for you?
Because I did do my own research, but still found better prices after following some links here. The funny thing is, that's what a forum is for, collaboration, not complaining about why people ask questions.
