What's the big deal with the new 1.3 ghz G4 chips? Arn't there 1.42 ghz already? And they use "only 10 watts" is that really low? I'm confused...

I am guessing that new 1.3ghz G4 is the chip in the new XServe.

I don't think the new XServe is using the 7457. Apple's spec for the XServe has 256k of L2 cache. The 7457 is capable of 512k of L2.

Also, the 7457 won't be available until later this year.

--- to answer the first post. Yes! 10W is very low power for a chip like this. The current G4 (7455) dissipates 32W at 1ghz. For this new chip to dissapate less than 10W at 1ghz is a real breakthrough.
