Now that we are moving past the circus we called the Kavanaugh Issue, and the DNA fun brought to use by Liz Warren, we get to listen to the crickets from the Mueller probe (awful quiet) and ponder what next "OMG ISSUE!!!" is going to be rolled out for the Dems and GOP to pound on and pull the public into. Not to mention the morning talk shows, opinion shows and forums like this. :D

Anyway, take a loo at the poll, please vote - you can select any two, and drop a comment on what you think the next great topic will be.

    Midterms are days away.

Something not listed. Oh don't get me wrong, it'll be the same old list of stuff. They'll just change the names to make people more sympathetic to their cause. That's what politicians do best, change the name of an issue to make their side sound like the right one.

I put this together when I noticed that the local rag here (LAT) was floating more articles regarding immigration and medical costs as the normal(?) ones regarding Russia and SCOTUS faded. My news feeds sort of reflected the same (drop of Russia and SCOTUS).

I voted for "not listed here", because the reality is that politics reacts to news as it develops.

Next month we might all be talking about the economy or stock market is there is a major correction. We might be talking about North Korea or Iran if something goes wrong there. We might be talking about a major terrorist event.

The one thing I do believe: The world and the US seem to be spinning out of control. Various factors have upended the existing order in ways we could never have possibly predicted ten or even five years ago. And my personal belief is that the Trump White House is absolutely the worst imaginable to deal with that uncertainty. We have a President who seems more interested in watching Fox News and Tweeting insults than he does in the serious business of being the US President. The one-time Leader of the Free World.

The Leader of the Free World doesn't Tweet insults about porn stars. The Leader of the Free World doesn't let dictators butcher WaPo journalists with impunity provided they promise to buy enough weapons from us.

The other thing that strikes me about the Trump people is this: Their utter incompetence.

Right now the Trump White house is finally coming around to the realization that there is not much they can do to save the US coal industry. Forcing US utility companies to buy coal would result in much higher utility bills for consumers. And there is no port on the West Coast to ship western US coal to Japan and China. These facts were perfectly clear to anyone with any knowledge of the industry back in 2016. But Trump (and the people that voted for him) chose not know. To ignore the experts.

I don't know what we'll be talking about next month. I do know that whatever comes down the pike, the Trump people will find a way to **** it up even worse.

"OMG GMO" would be the optimal palindromic headline.

However, it saddens me that it's not a perfect mirror image, because G isn't automorphic when rotated around its vertical axis.

I think if the Democrats don't get their blue wave in the mid terms, I think there will be more organized protests by the liberal NGOs, that will have limited pockets of violence towards Trump and Congressional Republicans. I think the US and China are going to become more adversarial, but I believe Trump has the silent support from both parties to keep it going. I don't see things going well in the future for the US and the European Union. Specifically Germany. I have a really bad gut feeling our relations with Germany are going to further deteriorate. I think there's gonna be a shakeup in the House Of Saud because of the murdered reporter. Some type of Royal Coup in the future. I don't think much will change between Iran and US, other than threatening one another. I think Trump and Putin will reach a tentative deal on Syria, but it will fall apart, because the Iranians will refuse to play ball. I think North Korea will stall as long as they can, without being provocative, kinda like an extended peaceful cease fire. I think it's highly likely that Trump will get a 3rd Supreme Court pick in the next year, which will cause a huge uproar with Democrats. These are just my opinions based on observational speculation. Take it with a grain of salt.

^ Agreed, but I am trying to think (as an American citizen) why I would care about what Germany does or Merkel thinks. Hopefully Germany's citizens will matter more.

Germany is the strongest economy in the EU, and they are basically the heart of the Union, holding it together.

Well, that depends. The Trump tax issue should've been a big thing, but wasn't - and by the same token, we'll see how the Khashoggi thing plays out. OTOH, I'm sure distractions might gain traction instead. Yet, to answer - probably the Mueller report.

Thought that this was fitting. And although @Rhonindk and I don't always agree - I think we can agree with this
