i've seen people still running Jaguar on their powerbooks, even though they could probably handle Panther easily enough.

I want to say yes, but I know the answer is going to be no. Someone here will still be using text based entry on an Apple I.

I use an Apple Wireless Mouse (one button) on my iMac also. Will I get a new mouse with my next Mac? Most likely, yes. Do I use taps and slides on my Eee's trackpad, and did I on my iBook's trackpad? Yes. Do I use gestures on my iPhone? Yes. But does any of that mean I am overly dissatisfied with the one button mouse on my iMac? No, not particularly. Meh. It works just fine. And Tiger on that iMac works just fine also. I miss Spotlight and Expose when they're not available (i.e. on this Win2003 computer right here). I don't really miss a right mouse button when it's not available. My next Mac will have Leopard or Snow Leopard on it, but I don't see any tremendous reason to upgrade the iMac just so I can be 1337....

As for the original question, I have seen Jaguar running; I don't think I've seen 10.0-10.1. I haven't seen Jag running often, and the last time I saw it, think it was on a computer running an EEG system, and to be honest, when you have scientific data recording equipment working properly, why on earth would you mess with it? I wouldn't be happy using Jaguar at home, though.

Gosh, if I found a Mac in a reasonably high profile place like a college library that was still using 10.2 jaguar or earlier, then if I had time I might try to do something about it. I bet that it wouldn't be super secured if it's been so totally neglected, so you might even be able to go in there with an OS X install disk and update it yourself!

yeah, last week I came across an iMac still running 10.0. The only non-system application it had on there was Appleworks.

Please tell us where you found the mac when you tell us about what OS version it was running.

We had 10.2 on two PowerMac G4s when we replaced them with Mac Pros, but I have subsequently purchased two Leopard discs to bring them up to the modern era because it was just too jarring going back.

At school we have plenty of eMacs running 10.3, and I believe there's still a PowerMac that has 10.2 on it. I used it last year.

You win. :D (so far at least)

When I took my job the PMG5 I use had 10.3.5 installed on it (dual 1.8GHz, I don't know if it shipped with a late 10.2 or early 10.3 installed). As much better Panther was than 10.0 through 10.2, Tiger and Leopard are still shockingly better than it. I have 10.4.11 on it now but still find myself reaching for the space bar to Quick Look a file. ;)

Even my old B&W G3 has 10.3.9 on it...

My parents have an iLamp on 10.3, and I've recently worked on some acquaintances' iBooks running 10.3 as well. Oldest I've seen recently is a friend's backup computer, a very beat-up TiBook, running 10.2. I also know an artist still running 8.1 on a 7500, but I haven't worked on it in a while so it's possible she upgraded.

This has nothing to do with a Mac, but I did seriously install NT4.0 on a battered laptop not two weeks ago. It was the only license we had that could be given away at work, and it was better than the mostly-broken copy of 98 on the thing. It didn't even run that badly, which I wouldn't have been able to say for 2000 or XP.
