Just posted in the Mac Pro section, although the question goes for Mac Mini as well... Thanks!

The three flat screens I fished out of a rubbish bin!

A friend of mine at the local bank phoned me to say they were installing new monitors; so, round I went
and, Bingo! 3 perfectly respectable monitors saved from a landfill . . .

Mac monitors are expensive to the extent that the benefits do not justify the difference in price.

Using two 4K monitors atm - LG 32UL750 and LG 27UK650. The former is a VA panel with questionable colour shift (but I do no photo/video editing) so it's fine, and the latter is a great all round 4K IPS panel. I only just got the 32" monitor, and having 'looks like 2560 x 1440' scaling on a 32" 4k monitor is heaven. Perfect sizing. Always struggled with it on the 27". One is connected with a USB-C cable, the other with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

No way to use that with a classic Mac Pro, unfortunately.

Most converters seem to go the other way round: USB-C port on computer to VGA/DVI/HDMI for a monitor.

HOWEVER: you could try a bit of "transgender" stuff:

My warped sense of humour finds it rather funny that a gender-changer is called "Straight", but that's just me.

AND a USB-C to VGA/DVI/HDMI for a monitor.

Don't even have my Mac mini yet, but my favourite monitor is my Dell S2419h. Outside of apple, finding a monitor with a nice glossy display is getting harder and harder. Matte is dominating.

If you're watching in a dark/light controlled environment, nothing beats the 'pop' of glossy.

Do you use the 'looks like 2560 x 1440' scaling option?

Yep that's the setting I used!

Though recently with the COVID-19 stuff, my work let me expense an LG 5k display to use at home so I've been using that more (also at the 1440p scale).

I find it hard to believe Apple hadn’t already given you a display for use at home... I mean it’s the least they could do for a returned from the dead former CEO and Chairman.
