When the battery is very low, is it better to turn on airplane mode or turn off /on?

Turning off and on (when required) drains the battery more I guess right as opposed to running the phone in airplane mode?

I would think that airplane mode is the better solution.

What would be the reasoning for either turning it off or putting it in airplane mode when the battery is low (vs. just leaving it as is and charging it up when you can)?

I goto remote locations where there isn't power. So was wondering what the best thing to do would be incase I'm very low on batt power.

Well are you asking what would be better as far as saving what you have so that you still have a bit of power left to use when you turn it on later when you aren't in a remote location? Or what's the purpose of turning it off before the power actually runs out?
