today, mplayer came out on cidia. it said to put files in private/var/media, however, this does not exist. I tried to put it in private/var/mobile/media, but it didn't detect my files. tried creating the file in var, but no go. what is wrong?

>tried creating the file in var

You first have to CREATE the media folder ;)
Then put the video files in there. It does work, then.

^^^ what he said, I was in same position as you thinkin ok wheres the folder? maybe its the wrong location but eventually I thought hmmm maybe create the folder so I did and uploaded a movie file and tada it showed up.

sometimes it really is the simplest thing that can fox the brain lol

I DID make a folder, but no worries. I found the problem. Aparently, apple software is case sensitive.

Trouble is, on my 16G Touch, /private/var/media is in the system partition, and only has 79M free space.

Now, if we could put the media files in the user partition, where there's plenty of space...
