look for one that says "week 39"

Well.. I would say in about a week
there have been sightings of Week 39's out there, but they are rare.. i think. I got my touch last weekend from an Apple store and it was week 38... remember always look @ the serial number to see if its week 39 or 38

I got my week 39 from Best Buy on Monday, Oct. 1st, at a NH store. Go online and check local store availability at bestbuy.com.

How do you tell from the serial number what week is it?

The fourth and fifth characters of the iPod's serial number denote the week in which it was manufactured.

For example: The serial number ***39****** suggests that the iPod was manufactured in Week 39.

Cheers! I got a week 39! Although I haven't physically received it yet, but still good to know.

By the way, to the OP, I ordered my one online on Wednesday (+13 GMT), and they dispatched it yesterday afternoon. So you might want to try your luck ordering another one from the Apple online store. Although it says 7 - 10 business days for dispatch, mine took about 24 hours only before it was dispatched. And I *think* I got a Week 39, according to my serial anyway.
