Which Apple leather is best for not showing dirt/patina?

I had an Apple leather Red for my iPhone but I must have greasy hands as it wore bad, and always looked dirty. I then switched to Apple silicone and they were fine.

I'm after another case now for my X, and wondering if I should go for the leather again to see? Any help, any better now, or is it me, my silicone for my 7+ has stayed spotless.

Just wondering wether to stick with silicone, currently have a 3rd party silicone for my X and decent quality, or try a Apple leather again

I had the same issue when I get a product red leather case on my 6+. If anything, black should solve the issue.

I moved to a silicon case on my 6s+ and boy oh boy, it was perfect. Only thing with that case is the edges I found became shiny due to repeatedly pulling the phone out of my pocket. It marked up over time but would definitely buy a silicon case before leather.
 
I had a midnight blue one on my 6. It looked pretty good for the entire year that I had it. It just gradually darkened to almost black over time. I got a saddle brown for my 6S and I hated it. It looked awful after 2 months.

Yeh my red literally went black around the edges really bad, and just looked dirty everywhere else.

The light colours mustn't last a few weeks! Would have to be dark colour. I like the blue ones though..

Get a product called "HatSaver." It will protect the leather from rain, oils and dirt etc. I have been using the product for several years and it works great. Apple case should be no different. I used it on my brown and black leather cases.
 
It’s such a shame they age so poorly. I got the berry colored leather case for my 7 Plus and within a week you could tell it was a different shade than when new. I stopped using it after 4 months because I felt it looked disgusting. Only the black color seems to perfectly stay the same. I like the feel of the leather case, otherwise I would choose silicon, but they also lack the metal buttons and therefore feel less responsive. I’m trying the Cosmos Blue color this time though. I know it will darken, but hopefully in a not so objectionable way and allow me to use it longer.

My thoughts are, the Taupe will look like the charcoal gray out the box once the patina develops.

Keep us updated! Post a pic now and then every week say. I like that colour to.

Have to admit I like the feel as well but went silicone because of the look. It goes in and out of jean pockets so will also get mucky from this. Whereas the silicone can just be wiped clean

Still undecided....I bought another 3rd party silicone, just for another colour option, decent quality so far. I'm still wondering though to get a leather as have to say they do feel better.

Hows the comos blue going? Tempted with this but wonder if it will darken or go "dirty" if it darkens suppose it will just look black?

Also I can't seem to find any 3rd party leather for the X, all seem to be PU/faux leather which I don't want, I'm in UK, anyone found any? At a decent price as well otherwise may as well get Apple's. Thanks

Still too soon to say with the Cosmos Blue. It looks great now with the hint of silver showing at the bottom. But it’s still less than a week old.

I'm not a fan of the 'Patina' effect either - it's mainly a build up of body oils/gunk on your case, taking away from the fresh leather look when first purchased.

Black should cover it up, but it's still hidden there.....Could be why I end up going Silicone instead of leather...at least my weekly wiping down with a damp cloth will remove the sweat, dirt, lint etc. in one foul swoop. ;)
 
All leather ages and develops patina as you use them. That's just a nature of leather.

I personally love the ageing process and the patina over time.

Maybe not the red or yellow ones as they literally turn black from photos I've seen. But saddle brown, midnight blue and tan all age nicely over time.
 
I can understand that some like the ageing, but my red just became black, especially around the lip and I can't think one person would think it looked good and aged.

Now the darker colours maybe, that's why I'm half tempted with the cosmos blue, the black I can imagine will not show, but not sure it's worth it just for that.
 
I went to the store to pick up a black one and they were entirely out of stock. Crazy. So I got a hot pink leather one. I told them if it start to wear a bit I’m returning it! They said I have a year. We’ll see how it holds up!

Wow, I forgot how generous Apple's return policy was. I bought a Berry colored leather case this past spring that now looks disgusting. I stopped using it after 4 months. I bet it I took it in they would replace it. My only problem is that I now have an X and I’m certain the replacement would only be like-for-like.

Do you think my case will end up looking like that as well after a few months? I hope it doesn’t turn to some nasty color. I’ll be disappointed. If it does I’m going back for the black one.

I think you should ask anyway and see what they say.

Ive had a midnight blue case for two years and I agree. It darkens slightly but is consistent in color still. Love it.
