I'm a big fan of iTunes restore. Don't ask why, no tangible reason. Seems better in my mind. :)

Erase all content and settings. I do it many, many times a week. iTunes restore only if DFU is needed for frozen system.

Why do you restore many times a week?

I'm a mobile research analyst / software engineer. It's my job to break things.

There's nothing wrong with the iTunes way, same result, just more cables.
