Which to select in itunes?

This is my first time jailbreaking my phone. I have the original with the 2.0 upgrade. First time I thought was successful but I had no service afterwards so now I understand that I need to uncheck the activate box. I am currently restoring the phone and getting ready to jailbreak again. My question is, once that is complete and I get to the part where it ask "set up as new iphone" or "restore from backup" which do I choose? The first time I set up as new and i though that might have been why I had no at&t service until I read around these forums. Any useful tips are appreciated.

You have synced the phone to itunes before you did the jailbreaking, correct? Like syncing it right after buying the phone. If so, make sure you choose "restore from backup".
