    The ability to become pseudo-immortal

(can combat aging, but if you get hit by a bus you're screwed.)

    or

    Create individual flying apparatus'

(intimate enough that flying can be done from your driveway to the parking lot)

For the average joe or a really really rich person? It's hard to tell which one will happen first with huge money, but I believe person flight will make it to normal consumers first...

Most people I've observed can't properly drive in two dimensions, let alone three.

Unlikely, unless you find some way of purging the toxins from our bodies, that our society offers-up ....... at no extra charge in might add.

Then you could have a shot at preventing the new cell growth gene from being turned-off.

This could take a while, and I will not be holding my breath.

I'm not sure if the first option is even desired ... The resources on earth are limited ... Death is part of live as sad as it is. It would lead to some severe overpopulation.
Do you remember the movie Highlander ? Wasn't the gol of them to win the last fight and become mortal ?

So I go with an individual flying thing ... Maybe Apple can make the market here: an iFlighter. Running iOS X.

Did not see it, but I do remember a ST-TOS episode, about a planet where no one could die, and the entire place was chock-a-block with humanity. They needed Kirk to "infect" one of their woman, to allow natural death to happen again.

I have images of masses of "gnats", descending on the centres of commerce every week-day morning. Maybe some will fly into the lighted windows, like birds do now? :p

Hm... you'll probably need to jailbreak to fly sideways, though.

You want to know what that first scenario would look like, just check out the current season of Torchwood.

The latter scenario is probably more easy to achieve scientifically -- although I've no idea how they'd manage the traffic, i.e., keeping distracted idiots from colliding in mid-air.

Flying cars will never happen. Its hard enough driving a car in two dimensions let alone three.

Humans actually driving will be a thing of the past in the future anyways.

Bruce Willis in "5th Element" was driving/flying a taxi: and the airspace was quite crowded ... I think we will always have something to move ourselves from A to B. driving on four wheels might become obsolete.
