Such a phenomenal movie.
I need to go watch it again.
The Departed, btw...
dislike. free whitey! haha
At least he has a sense of humor
This is whom Jack Nickelsons character is based off of correct?
Good movie. I just like the fact everyone gets whacked at the end. Great sequence of events.
Bulger was killed today, after being transferred to one of the roughest prisons in the country. Guess another inmate wanted to up their cred.
Quote from the article - "The mobster was reportedly beaten to death by fellow inmates who left him disfigured beyond recognition, according to The New York Times."
Makes you wonder if it was really him and he isn't out and about living the remainder of his days a free man!
I'm sure "Offed an 89-year-old" looks really good on a resumé.
No, but "I whacked Whitey Bulger" sure does.
It might look really good to a prosecutor. I can see the defense now, "Who tells the truth on a resumé?"
Actually, it makes you wonder if this was a legally sanctioned murder.
Whitey Bulger was, in addition to everything else, an informer. There was plenty of motive for other criminals to kill him.
What’s creepy is that whoever signed the order to move Bulger must have known that—known that he was sending Bulger to his death.
Whatever you think of Bulger, that bears investigation. It’s hard to believe someone “innocently” sent him there not knowing what would happen.
I have zero doubt that someone in the government wanted him dead. They knew that sending him to that prison and putting him in genpop was a death sentence. It's known for it's violence and killings and has a number of stone killers running things in the prison population. There was really no reason for him to be transferred to that place from where he was.
Agreed on both accounts. Given what he has done in the past for certain government agencies, I would not be surprised at all if there were certain people who wanted him out of the picture completely.
All of this is interesting but the most interesting story is the relationship between Mueller (as in the Mueller Report) and Bulger. Best said, Bulger was vile and Mueller is well, a rather suspect individual whose own behavior makes for great fiction movie story telling of people in power who abuse their power as related to agencies such as the FBI.
