I wanted to see how many people, if any on here, were able to get a Sport black band for their existing Silver Alum Sport? This is the combo I'm getting and I haven't seen many pics of it. Still annoyed I have to shell out another $50 for the black band. Thanks!

I really like this combination. Here's a few pics of my 42mm silver sport watch with a black sport band:

Such a shame it isn't an official option...

The only reason I can think of that they wouldn't offer this very nice looking combo is it might detract from the SS w/ BSB (being the only black banded, silver Watch)... Otherwise there is no reason they shouldn't have one.

sweet thanks Bryan, looks as nice as I thought it would, can't wait to get my white and band now! I really love the contrast of the silver and black, also feel the silver casing will hold up a little better for noticeable damage vs the SG.

I got my watch at Maxfield in LA, sport w/blue was all they had... But I ordered a BSB, and now I know I made a good choice! Thanks for the pics!

I received the black Sport band on Friday to replace the white band on my 42mm Sport. Went with the Space Gray pin version instead of silver so it would match the band rather than the watch.

thanks Bryan for posting those pics! I definitely want the black band now!

No problem. Glad I could help! I bought the Watch Sport with the white sport band and it's nice switching back and forth between the white and black band.

Wait so Apple isn't allowing people with one of the color bands to switch bands for a black band ?

When I called them and asked they said you certainly could.

Unfortunately not, the black sport band isn't one that can come normally bundled with a silver aluminum casing so it's not a swap hey will make. You could swap for blue, green, pink I believe I only.

That's what I thought too , so I called them and asked them like 3 times over and over like " So If I bought a silver sport with white band because I can't get a black band will I be able to use the band swap for a black band even though the black band only comes with the sport gray"

and they were like " Yes, absolutely " and I kept asking "are you sure ? " and they kept saying " Yes, any sport band for another sport band is fine ".

Hmm that would be great as I would cancel my order for the BSB Save the $50. Was it just regular Apple customer care line?

It was either the regular customer service line or the customer service associate at an Apple Store, it was a couple weeks ago. Give either one a call and they should give you an answer before you spend another $50.

I dont see the rationale for not doing so just because the pre-packaged units dont come in a certain combination. The band is still in the same exact sports band collection for the same price. If that was the case then anyone who got the space gray sport watch would be completely excluded from band swapping period.

Thank you for posting these images. This was my original plan, but after trying on I changed my mind and got the stainless steel. One Apple Store wouldn't allow me to put the black band on the silver color watch, while another allowed me to, but only had the 38mm band for the 42mm face, so it was hard to imagine.

I now have the black sports band on my SS, and the difference to yours is not huge (the aluminium seems to suit the sport band more than the SS).

I'm still happy that I got the SS as I usually wear with the leather band, but I am really impressed with how good your combination looks!

^^This^^ I called last week and asked and they are sending me a black to swap with the green one I have. Looks Sharp!

Lucky.... I just chatted with Apple and they told me I can't because the Aluminum sport only comes with White, Pink, Green and Blue ;(

Thanks for sharing your pics. This combo looks as amazing as I thought it would. Black bands go with anything and this should have been an option for the Sport. I'm sure they were playing marketing mind games in refusing to offer it as such.

Why are they giving people inconsistent responses? I'd try again with a different person.

According to https://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/22/apple-band-only-apple-watch-exchanges/:

- The new band must be within the same collection as the watch and must be an available band option for that watch face.

The black Sport band isn't an available band option for the silver aluminum face.

Why are they giving people inconsistent responses? I'd try again with a different person.

Tell us about it. Those so-called "Apple Specialists" also informed some members that the Sport comes with two full sets of bands and that AC+ doesn't cover the out-of-the-box band.

Nice combo. I upgraded from Sport to SS partially for the black band. Puzzling why this isn't a combination Apple sells.

they know people will think it looks cool so many will buy the additional band. Come on you don't think apple is dumb do you. This is a well thought out and planned strategy.
