    Lincoln and Darwin

Two men who re shaped the world as we know it and are as controversial today as they were in their own day.

Darwin has been a hero of mine for years and Lincoln, while being more of a chameleon, has grown in worth in my eyes since Obama took office. (There's nothing like right wing screeching to make one bone up on history.) however, I am also immensely appreciative of the NYT's series Disunion. The devil truly is in the details.

I salute both of these men for having made me and the country I live in, better.

Wait.. you mean you don't care about Arsenio Hall? He shares the same birthday!

I do. And Lincoln. and Darwin. And most recently, Rosa Finnegan.

Why? They share their birthday with me. :D

    Hey, Happy Birthday!

So does sharing your birthday mean anything extra to you?

I have the same bday as Francis Scott Key, but since I'm not musical and my ancestors were fighting the Americans during the War of 1812, I've never really had any connection to the guy.

And I share my BD with the Battle of the River Plate.

    So what?

Oh, also a good movie, IMO.

A little behind the times, you seem to be, he is no longer Kim Jong Ill, he has been Kim Jong Dead for rather a while now.

Well, back in the day of the first Arsenio Hall show, he offered a free seat in the Dog Pound (the people sitting behind the posse) if they had his birthday. Unfortunately, it ended before I could make it out there.

Nor, in fact, was he. I think he had enough sense of metrics to structure the words to fit a particular tune (basically a British drinking song), but as far as notable musical talent, I am not aware that he had that.

I wouldn't have said Lincoln changed the world, certainly the states. But not the world.

I willingly share my birthday with Galileo Galilei. Almost as cool as Darwin. :)

and all I get is being born on the (anniversary of the) day the HMS Beagle was launched
