Really. Yes, the iPod can play video. Yes, some videos are pornographic. Why the fascination with this connection? It seem twice daily that MacBytes posts some article or news bit about porn and the iPod. Is it really that interesting? Or newsworthy? Is Belkin going to start selling the iVibrator? Will it simulate the on-screen action?

Bah. I'm in a mood.

I think porn stars actually using Macs is much more interesting...

It's because of the iPod's success. Now everything is blown sky high. Scratches, battery life, porn.

And also, because the iPod is so mainstream now, I think it's a legitimate concern.

Because the porn industry makes huge profits, and is an early-adopter of new technologies.

You realize that some of the biggest media conglomerates, like Time Warner and Sky (Murdoch's company) peddle XXX porn? They do, and make massive profits from it, but, it's all kept under cover.

Craziness. I'm terribly naive, then. Not that I don't enjoy the occasional... well, you know... but I have little nephews regularly playing with my iPod. Don't think my brother would be too happy if he knew his kids were watching "Debbie Does Dallas" or something.

I for one don't see the real attraction to iPod porn for my life. I'm not going to watch it on the commute to work and I have a perectly good computer or TV at home. But I can see this as being a boon for others. My first thought was for kids in college dorms. Now going to the bathroom with your iPod in hand will take on a whole new meaning.

Newsflash!

Children as young as 11 or even younger are downloading porn without their parent's knowledge. Shocking!

I read somewhere that the published figures of porn-industry revenues are greatly overestimated. $11 billion is hard to believe.

That sounds LOW! There may be shady characters in the industry, but don't doubt the sales ##'s. When even the most conservative cable networks have hardcore porn there is no doubting that the profits far outweight any ideology.

Not to mention almost every major hotel chain offering "adult" on-demand movies. It's not a public service... it's all about the profits.

I do doubt them, especially when every website seems to show the same numbers without any attribution. That's more than double the regular movie industry.

Even if the porn industry is making more than the movie industry, I don't see why it's such a big news story. I could put pirated movies and illegally downloaded tv shows on an iPod if I really wanted, but no one seems to care about that anymore.

It's just kinda weird. It's like announcing a new television and having a bunch of reporters writing stories about how the tv can be used for porn. It's ridiculous...

Porn and exaggeration go, ahem, hand-in-hand, don't they? Besides, I don't think $11B is that out of range, considering the volume that gets peddled, and what is probably considered "porn." It's not just video, but print as well. And even, perhaps, the "adult" industry in general, including such business as Lover's Lane, et al.

It was certainly news when home VCRs became popular and porn could be distributed on video. It created an entirely new market.

I think that's what some people are expecting to happen with the iPod. Suddenly millions of people will have a device in their pocket that plays video, and the market for video porn downloads will skyrocket.

Not naive, just out of touch...there's way better, more current porn than Debbie Does Dallas

Debbie Does Houston.

I like 'Ride My Donkey 27', personally.

The adult industry is often credited with advancing technologies such as secure online transaction, or online transactions period. This is another example where porn may help something get big quicker -- to explode --not too fast -- not premat... ugh.
