iPhone SE Why can’t Apple just make an all screen SE2?

It’s all I want, and SE2 that is all screen, put the finger print sensor on the side/back, or use Face ID... sorted.

I don’t want an SE2 that is an iPhone 8, that sucks. I don’t want the only “small” option being the Non plus version that’s a frigging £1000...

Just give me an updated SE that’s £500.... is it so hard to do? Cause no one is making normal sizes phones anymore. Everyone is making phones for giants....

It’s intended as a budget phone. It won’t get Face-ID. Since Touch-ID will remain, so will the bezels.

Next years 5.4” iPhone will be close to what you’re after, but don’t expect it to come in at £500.

It's not worth Apple's time investing so much into a product that has a niche market share. In theory, the 2020 5.4" iPhone Pro will be the smallest all-screen device and will tick the boxes for what you want.

It is worth Apple's time to raid the parts bin & use up any materials laying around to make a budget iPhone 8 as it will be a big seller. It won't be an "SE 2" though. More like a "iPhone 8 cheapskate version".

Honestly, though- knowing it’ll have the a13 in it, if it has the same standard lens camera as the 11 I will buy it. Sure it won’t have two lenses or Face ID, but it’ll be fast, have a great camera, and won’t have a giant screen. I would sell my 11 to buy this and pocket the difference.

Best to leave the SE where it belongs in the past. The industry has moved on from that best for you to do the same and move on.
Now now John.....does it bother you that some like the SE and would like it to continue? Those who want giant phones that cannot be easily transported in ones jeans pocket are free to buy them. Let's others do what they want and campaign for the product they would like to purchase. Best for you to move on...

Fair play to them I’m not knocking them in anyway. Sometimes you have to adapt in life and move on. My iPhone 11 fits in my jeans perfectly fine.

Free choice is good. The more options out there the better. One man's ceiling is another man's floor. Not knocking you.

I agree free choice is good and that’s how it should be. But when that free choice is becoming not so much of a free choice anymore then what choice do you then have. Being the SE is a limited choice phone. Move on and adapt might be one thing to do or stay with the se always hoping for an updated phone. The giant phones are having good success. Apple don’t need to make an se if they don’t want to. Drop Tim an email and ask him where are the choices. I’m sure he will point to you in the direction of the giant phones.

Which is fine as you can custom build a house to your own specs. Maybe one day we will be able to custom build our personal devices as well. But until then, companies are rarely going to cater to niche markets. And yes, does seem like the market has moved on from what the OP calls "normal size phones". But maybe I'm wrong and there are a lot of folks out there that want that product. In that case.....he may get his wish.

One reason is also limited battery space in the SE body.
By increasing just display size but not the body and with that putting in a bigger battery capacity you will significantly lose battery life.

As an SE owner, I have given up hope that Apple will ever produce an SE sized iPhone again.

My primary use for an iPhone is as a phone and the SE is the perfect size for me.

When my SE dies and I can't find a SE replacement, I'll probably switch back to a small flip phone.

Because the notch would take up the whole part of the top so it wouldn’t be bezeless anymore. The sensor’s don’t get smaller because the phone gets smaller. cmon use your brain.

Well, maybe when there’s NO ONE making it means something. Just guessing.

Brain is not required when you can use magic. Apple did say their products are magical... :D

This is a serious question: This is speculation on my part but I feel that a substantial number of mobile phone users have the phone and no other computing device. Perhaps more in less prosperous countries but I know of many in the UK. I think that this may be more prevalent in the younger demographic. As the phone is their one and only device they want a larger screen for watching videos etc. Views on this would be welcome.

If there was enough demand for smaller phones, the market would meet that demand.

How tiny are your pockets, Northern Man?

If your primary use is a phone and not a smartphone, then there are hundreds of options for you. You have to understand you are an extreme minority.

As I wear normal size jeans my front pockets easily hold an SE. Normal jean front pockets do not easily and comfortably hold a large phone and allow one to bend to tie shoes, ride a bike etc. If you like having a large phone sticking out of your back pocket, could I interest you in a Costanza style wallet? ;)

Because of so many reasons...
It would probably require a custom A? processor due to the small battery size
Cost... Would people buy a small phone for $999 plus? The whole point of the SE line was lower price.
Would people buy it at any price? Small phones are a small niche market. Would sales be enough to cover R&D?

I'm sure I could go on but there's three reasons for you.

I'm going to let you on a secret. Jeans and even dress pants have front pockets that are plenty big enough to fit a iPhone XS Max and still allow one to bend to tie shoes or ride a bike. If you find your front pockets aren't big enough that means you probably got them in the women's section. Clothes designers assume women carry purses so don't need big pockets.

Maybe northern you might get some decent size jeans for Xmas. I can do everything with my 11 in my front pocket ride bend down lock my bike up whatever it is does not cause me any discomfort or any issues. Phones in back pockets? Only my wallet goes in my back pocket.
