when they introduced the new iPhone X, they showed an progress indicator at the top right corner.
Why is it gone?

Do you mean the bar under the time to show where to pull down for Control Centre? It's on the lock screen in the latest iOS.

There was supposed to be one above the top right status bar icons: a sliding dot.

I don‘t think they‘ve enabled it.

Maybe they couldn't figure out why it kept getting stuck on new releases so they just ditched it to save the effort of fixing the issue.

When watching a video, you'll already see a loading pinwheel on the scrubber anyway + it looks out of place in landscape mode (due to the lack of notch).

I didn't have the need to know the buffering status of any media I consume (so far).

I filed a report which got closed as a duplicate a while ago. Perhaps they're gonna introduce something in future iOS updates.

Why do you think so? Did it mean something in the past when they closed the report?

I, for my part, really miss it because you know that something is happening and iPhone isn’t stuck.

Something like this.

It just means that they are aware of it (that it has been reported before), but that's about it really.
