Seems Apple TV4 is needed to watch the upcoming Music Festival. Additionally to watch the Festival you had to sign up for Apple Music.

So many restrictions, hoops to jump thru. Find this very annoying, especially that a device bought two years ago to watch the Festival can now not be used.
Also indicative of Apple tightening up is that the month long Festival is now only for 10 days. Felt it was such a great way of Apple giving back to its customers.

Annoyances aside, suspect it is possible to watch the Festival on the big TV screen going thru iTunes on one of my computers, Mini 2011 or MacBook Air 2015, would this be right ?

I feel you. I bought my ATV3 3 years ago. But I knew as The years passed by that it would stop being supported at some point. Honestly, I thought they would've replaced two years ago

To me it seems like intentional and unnecessary obsolescence. Similar to how Apple is now only allowing Apple TV 4 to function as a Homekit hub. For myself though, at least I've gotten several years of use out of it. The people who should be ticked off are the ones who may have bought theirs only a few months ago and now Apple is basically EoL the 3rd gen model it seems. I'm not buying an Apple TV 4 at this point though, I'll just wait for the 5. Hopefully Apple doesn't take as long between revisions like they did between 3rd gen and the 4. It needs 4K support and hopefully HDR as well. TV's that are 4K (and especially HDR) are not quite mainstream yet, but they likely will be next year.

Feeling a little contrite after watching this mornings Alicia Keys Concert at the Roundhouse.
Watched on my bedroom computer which has good speakers connected, such an amazing venue, peerless production, and have not listened to Alicia Keys before, will definitely be looking more into her music.
Winter's not quite over here in Australia, so 6am concert wrapped up in a warm bed is not so bad.

2010mini reminded me my Apple TV was already 2-3 years old when I got mine. I did buy it specifically for the Music Festival so my original post was really my disappointment at not being able to see it on the bigger screen.
So not so annoyed, maybe a little.

There are so many other ways I can see the Festival having several Apple Devices so all is well in the world.
And Thanks Apple, this Festival at the Roundhouse is a real treat.

I've been trying to watch it with ATV 3 via Airplay from iPad and iPhone. No success. After a second or two, a black screen with audio is all I get. No music festival for me this year, because I can't be bothered to watch it on a small screen.
