At some "values voters summit" recently held, a choir sang a song called "Why should god bless America?"

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X77R_prkCkg&feature=player_embedded

    Lyrics:
How is this any different than Rev. Wright saying "god damn America!" which the right wing flipped out about? It's really the same message, just said with different words. Wingnut hypocrisy at its finest

So when is the separation of church and state idea going to be implemented for real?

    For example,
So what if abortion is legal. If your religion does not support abortion, fine, don't have one, no one if forcing you to kill your baby just becasue it is legal. Not everyone shares your ideas/beliefs about abortion. Just becasue you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else has to not like it.

I don't care what religion people are, it really does not matter to me. I just don't like ideas/beliefs pushed on me.

"Why would we invoke a none specific deity to bail out these unelected spongers"

And indeed, why would anyone invoke a none specific deity to 'bless' ones own nation. Seems like religious fundamentalist blind nationalism. Not great attributes.

when both sides stop their propaganda $h!+ slinging...that's like asking hell to freeze over, we know when that's going to happen.

people can't think for themselves they need to be herded into a set of ideals.

The first amendment protects the land from the power of the church. It helps keep the government off the churches back, and it limits the amount of non-sense I have to listen too.

Actually, back when the framers wrote the Constitution, that was written to protect the church from the government, not the other way around.

    Think about it.

That is completely untrue. The framers were seeking to get out form under the Church of England, which had been interfering in government far too much.

Maybe when the left wing liberal idea of "helping your neighbor" and the whole idea of "community" that came from religion is gone.

Are you seriously saying those things are bad?

They are one of the reasons humans were more successful than neandertals.

Not with an ostrich plume hat...no! ;)

Really, does one need to bother asking questions of a coalition who thinks "Born in the USA" by Springsteen is a a patriotic anthem?

I believe that the terms are now being used to bring about "equality" instead of simply helping each other.
