**Wi-Fi or 3G**

Conflicting information, need help.
Which is more of a drain on the battery running Wi-Fi or 3G....

WiFi browsing 9 to 10 hours (depending on 4 or 4S)

yes and yes. Plus wifi is faster

I get better battery life when I use wifi at home and work. Plus I get 20 Mbps down instead of 4...

You turn it off when your away from WiFi (say... out on the road) so that your phone doesn't waste battery constantly looking for a WiFi signal that isn't there...

But you can't turn off 3G even if you only wish to use WiFi to browse now, can you?

Yes you can, you can turn off all cellular data. You just can't turn off 3G only and leave 2G on anymore.

Did we have the option of "WiFi only" to avoid excessive 3G data usage, while being able to receive phone calls, back in iOS4?

curious non-iPhone user here...
