I am sure you have seen the iron gratings in the parking lots used for storm water run off and thought I hope I never drop my keys down in there, much less a cell phone. Well my wife gets out of the car and her new iPhone 4 without a case slips out of her hand and some how passes thru the slit in the grating and drops another 8 more feet landing at the bottom of this man hole resting face up on a concret colvert. Of course she had the shock look on her face as the calls me over.

I just new that the phone was going to be shattered, scratched, most likely never to work again. I managed to lift the iron grating and crawl down the ladder to the phone.

There it lay face up. I picked it up expecting the worst. All I can say is I am amazed!! the front glass did not have a single scratch, just a very very small chip in the upper right corner almost undetectable, the back had the protective plastic that came on it still attached so there were no scratches on the back. I hit the home button and it came right on, I have checked the camera, video, compass, gyro...everything I can thing of and it works like new still.

This is a true testiment to the great build quality of the new iPhone 4!!

Looks like you set this up to be honest. It doesn't show an iPhone falling 10 feet onto concrete and surviving.

Edit: This is the only reason you've posted on the forum. Some sort of nonsense going on here. I don't doubt that freak falls happen where electronics survive, I've seen it myself with glasses bouncing along kitchen tiles, but this is dodgy.

Awesome. It's nice to read a positive story of the phones durability rather than it breaking and how "fragile" it is.

Believe what you want, not sure why someone would make this up. I took the video after I paniced and got the phone out just to show my friends. I have no reason to make this up. I'm sure there was a lot of luck involved in the way it landed not to destroy the phone. But again it did fall and I can take a pictue of the chip in the glass to prove it. Regardless of the external condition it took a very hard hit and it still works, I'm impressed.

You guys are ridiculous, why would he make this up??? It makes absolutely no sense to make this up. Be happy for the guy, and for those of you that question his honesty, I hope you drop your damn iPhone and it shatters in a hundred pieces.

Wow. I'm glad you were able to retrieve it and that it suffered so little damage.

Why no video of you climbing down and retrieving the phone, bringing it up and showing it and lack of damages and powering on?

Yet you're able to grab something to film for youtube:rolleyes:

What a great story. Just a shame she didn't accidentally hit the record video button on its way down!

Yes, because we all walk around with a video camera on our phone all day *just in case* we drop it into a storm drain. I'm not saying it isn't a set up, but the chances of him actually filming the drop are extremely slim.
