So I have no problems with wifi speeds but my iPhone once it goes to sleep and I turn it back on, it doesn't automatically connect. I have to manually go to settings wifi and type the password every single time, is this a problem with ios? or do I need to replace my phone?

Sounds like a software issue to me. Have you tried resetting your network settings? General->Reset->Reset network settings

That removes all known wifi networks...

I did, also when I got the phone I restored as a new phone and the problem persists :(
