Situation at the moment is I have a 27" iMac for pretty much everything as my main computer which does everything from CS5 to iTunes to University Assignments.

I also have a Late 2008 15" MacBook Pro 2.53/C2D/4GB. Since I've had the iMac I haven't really used this for much more than the web/social/videos. Also have Windows 7 running on Parallels but only use MSN and a few other programs in that. But when I have it running, I will ALWAYS be browsing in Safari and watching videos.

I also have an iPad which is not really getting used at all anymore. I pick it up occasionally if I have turned off the MBP and want to check the web quick! It will also get it's use next week when I fly to New York. Now whilst I'm there I plan to take alot of pictures and upload them straight to the iPad.

So now I'm thinking, if I sell both the MBP and iPad and replace for a MBA (would be 13" with 4GB) that would fit the bill nicely and would quite easily beable to handle the tasks I carry out.

But, I am a little worried that I will miss the MBP! Will I notice a difference by dropping down on the processor speed? I'm not sure what to do at all....Anyone in the same situation?

The issue I'm having is not knowing the future lol. Sounds stupid I know. But if I keep the MBP and still do my pretty basic tasks on it, but a year or 2 down the line I decide that I want to use it for Photoshop CS5 whilst sat in my car after taking some pictures or want to use it to do some video editing in iMovie whilst out and about then I know it will beable to do it no problems....

But if I sell and get the MBA and get put in the same situation 2 years down the line, will it cope? If I have Photoshop running, as well as iMovie etc is it just going to beach ball of death on me?

I sold my 13 inch MBP to get the 11 inch MBA today. I also have a i7 27 inch iMac that's my main machine. I have not touched my MBP since the iPad came out. Size is the biggest feature for my needs. I like my notebooks to be very small, very portable. I love the iPad. But also want a super small MacBook.

I put my Al MacBook unibody up for sale so I could buy a 13" MBA. I think a $1400 MBA is a very good alternative to a $1200 MBP. The MBP has a larger hard drive, faster processor, and a optical drive; but I like the higher screen resolution and weight savings for the extra $200.

yea im not sure what i want to do .. all heavy work will be done on my imac .. not sure about my mbp though ..

so far i have gone from a 15 i7 hires matte .. to the 13mbp and im happy with the size ... resolution kinda sucks ..

i like the air .. just wondering if that c2d is going to get HOT

i would just use the mba to take to school to surf the web .. watch you tube vids .. and write papers

is the processor speed really going to slow things down ?

If the iPad isn't getting used besides the occasional web browsing you might as well sell it. It doesn't sound like you particularly need the MBP either.

My question is, do you need the macbook air? What would you use if for? Be careful you're not just buying the air for the novelty of it--it would suck if in 6 months time it was sitting around gathering dust as well.

Yeah I think the iPad is going...

The MBA would be used to take into University for notes and assignments.(which I don't take the MBP in for at the moment because of the size) I would also use it in bed and around the house etc when I don't want to sit in the office on the iMac. It would get alot of use just like my MBP does but just wandering for futureness!
