Will I see a difference upgrading to 12 gb of ram from 4?

    Got a late 2009 iMac. It's been slow the last few months. Might upgrade the ram. Will I see a speed difference?

    Yes, you might see a nice difference, especially if you do a lot of video or photo intensive work.

    Yes, depending on whether you need more RAM. Otherwise, no.

    Note that RAM has nothing to do with your slowdown unless you're using RAM intensive applications "the last few months" that you WEREN'T using before, or you upgraded your operating system during that time.

    Unknown. Depends on what you are doing and whether its currently causing issues. Open Activity Monitor after a good days use and see if the Page out count is 1/10th or more than the Page in count. If so, more RAM will help.
