First off, this is a little chanfe in topics from the VT massacre. The supreme court recently help up the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003. This maybe the first step toward making abortion illegal. I am personally pro choice and I belive the government should stay out of what a woman decides to do with her body. It seems like this country is taking major steps backwards in regards to freedom. Internet porn laws in states such as Utah and Alabama are the first steps being taken by the ultra right to try to illegalize porn. Do any of you think it will ever be made illegal? I siencerly hope not.

Republicans own some of the biggest porn pay-per-view services. So no, it'll never go completely away, albeit for the wrong reasons.

Abortion will never be illegal, unless the government that chooses to make it so plans on never winning another election.

Also, just FYI, the upholding of the ban on partial birth abortions is not "the beginning of the end". No only country in the world allows abortion that late in the pregnancy, so the ban is consistent with everyone else, rather than more restrictive.

As for porn, no, not a chance it will ever be banned, way too many rich people making way too much money from it for them to allow it to be banned.

(Note: Without definitive stats or links.)

I was under the impression that in some states, laws made it nearly impossible for a lot of women to successfully obtain sterile, safe, abortions.

I can only handle between 3 and 5 minutes on a porn site at a time with at least 10 minute breaks in between; otherwise, I'll get an anxiety attack.

Oh yeah ... forgive me, Duff-Man.

I do not even want to imagine the lower back pain she must experience on occasion.

This ruling doesn't really do as much as people think. Basically, the SCOTUS just didn't want to intervene in something that was already passed in Congress and by the Pres. Which in and of itself was no big deal. This type of procedure is almost never used anymore, especially in the late term stages already ruled illegal. In fact, most places already have laws that say once a child can survive successfully on it's own outside of the womb, it can't be "aborted" except in certain extreme circumstances where it would harm the mother otherwise. And they still wouldn't do it this way, which though I'm pro-choice (even though personally I find abortion itself reprehensible, I still think it should be a right most of the time), is fairly barbaric.

The neocons used this to show their supporters they're doing something, even though they aren't really, and the libs are using it say the Republicans are trying to outlaw abortions, which they aren't. They won't be reversing Roe v. Wade any time soon. They couldn't. Though support for it has slipped somewhat over the years, a majority still think abortions should be safe and legal in most cases.

And as for porn, I'd like to see them try. First of all, thanks to the internet, they wouldn't be able to. Second of all, anyone who tried or even talked about doing it would immediately lose every election ever.

You're for womens right to choose what they do with their body yet you also want to keep porn (which women often are forced into against their will) legal? Paradox?

No, its not a paradox at all...some women choice to go into porn, and some are forced to have an abortion.Paradox?

No...woman's body is hers...if she wants an an abortion, go for it. She wants to have sex on video go for it!

I'd be in a lot of trouble if porn were made illegal. I've been in some films that have very graphic content. I bet they'd be considered pornographic by many people.

    Plus, I couldn't live without porn! :)

Are women really (paraphrasing) "often forced into porn against their will"? Not saying that it doesn't happen occasionally perhaps, but in this an exaggeration? Maybe I've lived a sheltered life, but I just don't see the huge paradox.

Of course they're forced. Didn't you know that women don't like sex?

Perhaps in the days of Linda Lovelace, but I don't think as much anymore. Well, there are still cases of human trafficking, but if you're talking legit porn studios- probably not.

No of course not all the time but if it happens even a few times doesn't that make the morality of porn questionable? Im just trying to highlight what I see as a paradox in the OP's thread. And of course if women want to go into porn (which they often do) fine with me!

If this is you're compass for morality, most things would be considered immoral.

Depends on your definition of "forced" I'd assume. I can't imagine that mainstream pornography providers are literally pulling women off the streets and forcing them to have sex, but if they were then that should obviously be illegal under different laws.

If women are "forced" in that they need the money and subsequently turn to porn as an option, then I wouldn't see that as the same thing. Most people do things for money that we'd prefer not to; that doesn't inherently make it immoral. If it did, think of all the fast food joints that would have to close down.

The paradox I see is that the OP is for womens right to choose what they want to do with their body, and that's of course fair. But he's also pro porn, where in cases women are forced into it against their will. Of course if they choose to partake in porn like you said go for it! but the fact remains that a lot of the time they dont have that choice.
