There are still only a handful of HP printers for AirPrinting. What gives? IPhone 4S is out and we are approaching iPad 3. Looking for a Brother or a canon.

    I Must Admit

I thought by now that others would be around......It's HP envy range or apps as far as I can see.

Canon has already announced a few AirPrint Printers.

Here is the list of printers from Apples site that support AirPrint

I have a Brother wifi printer and scanner. I have an app called Brother iPrint&scan and it works great. Screw AirPrint.

That's a lot of printers, and many are not HP. So I guess the premise of the original questions is somewhat flawed?

    Absolutely,

If you want to use AirPrint you can, but there are numerous ways to print to a networked (WiFi can Ethernet or USB) without AirPrint.

Apple don’t promote the other ways as they want to promote their technology and try and sell the “magic”.

I’m not going to add to the techno garbage heap throwing away the functional printers that I own just for this feature.

    Quite.

AirPrint really needs support from Apple for any printer connected to a computer running Windows or Mac OS X.

I have that brother app. It only works for pictures not documents.
Did you find a way to print docs? emails?

I do wish there were more AirPrint printers to offer a better selection, but with the current selection, I'm quite happy with the Envy. It does everything I need when it comes to paper media (scan, printer, copy). It's an amazingly small device, that I have it conspicuously set up under my living room end table.

I don't really know much when it comes to print, I just want to print. With the AirPrint, I can just press print and out it goes from the printer. No setup (besides the wireless for the printer). I can do that from any device in range. I don't think networked printers can beat that.

A dedicated photo printer that supports AirPrint would be amazing.

Google the app Printopia. It will allow you to AirPrint to any printer. There's a free version out there but it doesn't work on 10.7.2. I've been using Printopia for awhile now with no issues.

The page yields a HTTP 404. That's really a lot of printers.

Printopia is awesome, particularily if you have more than one printer you wan't to "Air Print" to, including old ones. I have 4 printer, one of them about 6 years old or so. They all print well through Printopia. The added advantage is you don't need a separate App for each printer.

Airprint Activator and an always-on iMac make every printer in my house AirPrint compatible. :D

I wish there were options for windows users. Unfortunately iOS makes it very clunky for not Mac users. I can't even print from google docs with AirSharing.

This. Install the app, complete the setup, and you're all set--AirPrint for every printer on your network.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Just use airprintactivator for your mac and then you can "airprint" to your printer thats connected to your mac. No need for these expsensive airprint printers
