Speculation to this question and the answer would be no. I can buy a 13” MacBook Pro for that amount here in the USA 2019 model.
If you can’t get an $1700 loan (i.e. iPhone Upgrade Program) I have bad news for you

There's better things I can do with $1700 than buy the latest top of the line iPhone.
A $799 128GB iPhone XR will accomplish 100% of the things I'd be doing on a higher end iPhone at a fraction of the cost. Heck, even the iPhone 7 already does the trick.
Smartphone market is saturated now and will not bear this price, especially with incremental upgrades. Apple will have to again resort to incentives and buyback program to even maintain current pricing for 2019 iPhones.

Not a chance. My max price I’ll go is probably $700ish. Doubt the 2019 iPhones will show me anything I want so I’ll keep my 8 and see what the 2020 iPhones offer.

If you can’t pay cash, you need to buy within your means. Just because you can buy the new iPhone, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should.

Well, I have tons of credit, but I still wouldn’t pay that.
They would kill the iPhone stone dead if they increase prices that much. So no it isn’t going to happen.

NO choice? Are you locked in a prison that only offers iPhones? For the first time since the IP 3G appeared, I've been on the annual upgrade treadmill. I think I paid $299 for the 3G 16GB model. And yes, my IP XS 64GB model was $999.
For the first time since the 3G, I'm seriously thinking of skipping the debut of whatever this years model is called. From looking at eBay/Swappa, I might get $650-$750 for my $999 XS. Actually since I live in a high sales tax state, my $999 iP really cost me slightly overe $1100. Cost for year $350-$450 or about a buck+ a day.
It's a stretch to say having the latest is worth the cost. I MIGHT downgrade to the IP Xr 64GB for $750 this year.
All iPhone users want to upgrade every (other) year. And you could, but not now. It’s not for the masses anymore, and fervent iPhone fans who want to upgrade at a price that was previously affordable have to wait for deals and still don’t get the best model.
Every iteration was the same price until the plus models . That made some sense. Now it’s outta control.
The original iPhone was very expensive. Then it was discounted because Jobs wised up. The 3G was cheap in comparison.
Now... good luck to the average consumer. New design? Check. New features? Check. Price? Used to cost the same as the previous model.
Same goes for iPads. “Pro” is the same old incremental upgrades with a higher cost. More powerful. Slimmer. More features. $500 was the price for so many generations with the same upgrades.

For me anything really over $800 is too much for me. I would just buy the baseline model or an older discounted model.

You get the most beautiful phone on the martet and Android phones are cheap plastic crap that breaks after 1 week of usage.
I feel lucky Apple doesn’t charge $2000 for the new iphone because they could it and still outstell every android phone on the market as iPhone is that much better.
I hope Apple will make the Apple logo on the back QLED with adjustable colour and brightness on the back. This way it is more easy to tell that I am using an iPhone. If the next iPhone has this feature, i would easily pay over $3000 for it.
And I also hope there will a “Pro” $999 Apple case for the next iPhone. That is still way too cheap ofcourse.

Errr what ? You’re surely misinformed if you think android phones are plastic garbage .... the premium ones are all glass with some that was metal for the past few years now. Beauty is also in the eyes of the beholder ....
