Maps is what's keeping me from upgrading. Passing my iPhone 4 on to my son, who uses Google maps daily.
i need to past the time until my iphone 5 gets here so I updated my ipad 3 to 6.0 in the meantime.
Have a 4s loaded out the balls with jailbreaks and tweaks, look like my 5 will have to be the surprise.I was just curious! Will you upgrade your current iPhone to ISO 6, our wait to see it on your NEW IPHONE 5?

I have to agree. The maps are embarrassing.. so bad. The silver number pad on the phone app is so ugly.
I liked the shared photo stream but wish everyone in the group could contribute photos (rather than just the creator). Wanted to set up a family photo stream that we could all submit too. :/
Also seems to run a bit slow on my iPhone 4 but that won't be a problem after Friday.
Very glad I read some articles warning people not to merge Facebook contacts and calendars. No way I'm going down that idiot hole.
It's a bummer. Aspects of it are nice, but it isn't what it should be. Honestly, if Steve were still here, people would be fired over this.
I have updated my iPad but I think I'll wait till my iPhone 5 to arrives before I update my old phone. I'm surprised no one is really talking about Facebook integration, I think it's awesome! However yeah merging Facebook contacts is stupid, I did it, then noticed that my contacts were filled with hundreds of people I would never talk to so I turned off the Facebook contact merge option.
I thinks it's silly that it doesn't automatically prompt you to register your Facebook details in Ios6 or 10.8.2! So many people will never register and not even know what they are missing out on.

u don't think he had any input with ios6? he did leave input for the 5 years following his death.

i love apple but they should have only renewed their lease with google for at least one more year. or at least internationally.

It seems difficult to argue how Apple didn't screw up maps at this point. Like, big time. I hope they get backlash because that's the only thing that will evoke change.

I updated my 3GS and my wife's iPad 2 to iOS 6. I thought the iPad was bricked until I shut it down and restarted. I was able to get through the initial set-up after that.
It will be nice to see iOS 6 with all it's bells and whistles on Friday.

Steve was pissed about MobileMe, and that WORKED! Do you think he'd give the team a high five and a bonus for Maps being a debacle? Compared to what we were using, it sucks arse! Looking good is not good enough! Turn by turn is not preferable to a search bringing up the things in town that you need to find, the things that were easily found prior to 'updating' to this downgrade.....
mobileme did not work. it was poorly deployed and he voiced his 'wtf happened to mobileme' concerns about it. it didn't work until it was transformed into icloud. yes, maps is not as good as google maps, but that was to be expected. google maps will come out with a standalone app soon anyways. i am sure steve knew about all of these things, so what exactly did u expect from ios6?
I did the same thing. Updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6, but I am waiting for my new iPhone 5 friday before I upgrade my iPhone 4S before selling it. I want to experience iOS 6 for the first time on my new iPhone 5. My wife mainly uses the iPad 3 so I won't really be spoiled between now and Friday even if it has iOS 6 now.
curious but will be waiting til I get the iPhone 5...jailbroken iPhone 4 with Verizon and I don't want to lose my jb...so I will wait to have the ios6 and iPhone 5 together. til then...
Did you use MobileMe? What didn't work? iWeb? iDisk? Did iCloud fix those?
I expected maps to be better than googles maps jot worse! Especially when we lose the option of getting it back! Are you seriously happy about his 'update'? What exactly is improved other than donotdisturb and panorama?
A warning that maps would 'look cool but not find stuff you're looking for' would have been nice...

i think u got your own hopes too high thinking that a brand new maps app would be better than one that has been in development for 7+ years. like i said, it will come back soon any ways. i'm happy with the update because there wasn't a lot to fix from ios5.
Nope, upgraded to iOS 6 today and have been playing around with all the new features on my 4S. Figured I might as well since I was going to update to iOS 6 when I gave my 4S to my mom on Friday any how.

Siri is now more functional, but that doesn't apply to you. Panorama mode works well, something I'll use a lot (but also should have been there from launch, it was already baked in if I'm not mistaken)..but does the 4 even get this feature?
You're not going to spoil iOS6 by using it on the 4. There's nothing there that shouldn't have already have been a part of the OS.
Oh, one thing I did just discover...when you update/download apps, it doesn't kick you out of the app store anymore. That was highly annoying and a welcome change.
