Obviously release date of 3rd November is longer than we expected but does this extra time mean people will get their iPhone x on release day? Let's hope so and this time they can get supply demand correct from online to with carriers

The rumors were right. Apple is having manufacturing issues.

Like the weeks between announcement of iMac 27 inch late (October) 2012 model where it was announced but didn't ship for over 6 weeks or so and even than it was another 4-6 weeks wait for people. So most didn't get it until 2013.

I suspect than same for iPhone X.

And many people had issues with late 27 inch iMac models with bad screens.

Hope it's not the same for iPhone X.

As above, there are manufacturing and supply issues impeding the rapid delivery and assembly of these phones.

I’d expect consumer delivery to fall into early 2018. Should demand significantly exceed production capacity, it could be conceivable that delivery slips to mid 2018.

I suspect this is why we have 3 new SKUs this year, but I do wonder to what effect having so many SKUs may be compounding the production capacity issues....

Yes. It’s launching in 55 countries day one. That means Apple expects supply to be sorted by then.

By comparison the 8 is launching in multiple waves.

I'm curious if they did this as a strategy to not damage the iPhone 8 sales? Then again, there were a lot of rumours about manufacturing issues.

Sorry, not buying to "supply and manufacturing issues". Firmly believe Apple wants to build hype for it. 6 weeks before pre-orders...its a $1000 phone.

I hope they have their **** together for the inconvenience they caused everyone waiting on the X.

What inconvenience, really? It's not like they promised it any earlier. People being disappointed because they assumed an earlier release is neither an inconvenience or Apple's fault.

I see this as a detriment to the sales. I don't see the hype building...I see the 8 being launched in the next two weeks and a lot of folks bowing out for what should have been called the 7s.

I really just find it hard to believe that the phone will be extraordinarily successful at this price point. What I do see happening, is the return and rise of carrier subsidized contracts in response to the extraordinarily priced phones.

Then there's the timeline. People have seen it, people want it, and they want it now.

Releasing the phone in November right before the holiday season will likely help with sales...which they're banking on. The bad part is, however, that these phones will be likely be delayed due to the rumored manufacturing and initial demand, and most folks likely won't see their new iPhone X until well into 2018. At this point I cannot imagine that many people will be happy knowing that their brand new $1,500 (X 256GB with AC+ and taxes) is going to be replaced with the latest and greatest thing in a short 7-9 months.

Apple makes a higher profit on the iPhone X, and this wait is going to be directing more people to the iPhone 8, or to competing devices. So I think it's more harmful than beneficial, and therefore most likely forced because of OLED display supply issues, or problems with Face ID, or both.

I suspect it’ll still be tight supply but obviously better than if they had released it next Friday with the 8.

I bet there’d be an even bigger uproar here if they started preorders Friday but immediately slipped to 2 months...at least this way people know what to expect.

That's not an inconvenience. And like I said, it's not like Apple promised that date. I don't get why people act like Apple owes us something, or that we've been wronged because they don't give us what we want according to our own schedule.

Couldn’t agree more. The overreaction to having to wait until November is certainly eye opening.

Yeah, it's not like I'm happy about it, but like I said, it's not like Apple promised the phone this month, and it's not like I can't survive the next couple of months with the same phone I've used for 3 years.

I don't mind.

My contract renewal was coming up in November anyways. Hopefully its reasonably subsidized in Canada (akin to 256 GB 7 Plus last year) seeing as the 256GB 7 Plus pricing last year and iPhone X base are similar price range (10$ difference n Canada).

Any higher though, I don't know if I can do it.

Should have let us pre order at the same time as the 8´s even though shipping is in November.

That can lead to lower sales.

Impatient consumers may buy the 8 immediately and upgrade to the X later. Allowing early pre-orders will diminish the demand for the 8.
