I find that whenever I reboot I have to open the lid first and then unplug my external keyboard for the keyboard to function.

NB: the keyboard is plugged into the USB hub on the monitor

but if I reboot with the lid closed the external display never functions until I open the lid and then close it again later.

I have the same problems with the new Macbook Pro, with the Apple wireless keyboard. I have to reboot every two days or so. I often had wake-from-sleep problems with my previous MBP as well, and think this is a persistent issue that Apple doesn't deem important enough to address. No idea why. What's new with the new MBP is that the signal to the external screen goes away permanently when the laptop puts it to sleep, and can only be revived by unplugging and re-plugging or a full reboot.

I found that if I leave sleep display to 15 minutes say I will lose ethernet because i'm using the hub on the display and it seems that that effects the ethernet adaptor whenever the display is set to sleep.
