Body and police car cameras were not rolling when cops shot dead an Australian woman after she called 911. Not a lot of details yet on what really happened.

"An Australian woman described as a spiritual healer was shot dead by police in Minneapolis Saturday after she reportedly called 911 herself — leaving angry friends and family searching for answers in a city that has just been at the center of another high-profile police shooting."

    Saw that is morning.

Early report is the cop in passenger seat shot her as she stood by driver seat.
Meaning cop shot her past the other cop.

    If true: W---T---F????

"Details of what exactly happened that night remain murky, but three sources with knowledge of the incident told the Tribune that two officers in one squad car pulled into the alley in response to the 911 call. Damond, who was in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and spoke to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat then pulled his gun and shot Damond—a yoga and meditation teacher—through the driver’s side door, the sources told the Tribune. No weapon was found at the scene.

“Two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday,” the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a news release that offered few details. “At one point, an officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman.

During the incident, the officers’ body cameras were turned off and the squad camera did not capture the incident either, the BCA said."

The body cameras were off. I presume the squad car camera failing to capture just meant the shooting wasn't within a clear line of sight of the squad car in whatever direction the camera was directed.

Without camera evidence there is a high chance the cops will get cleared of fault for this. If there was camera evidence it’s a 100% guarantee they would be cleared of fault for this.

I will be the guy that goes there. This case unless there is a clear way to show she was somehow an active danger, isn't going to go the way of the usual police killings. Mainly because the woman was an Australian Yoga instructor. They are going to have to put in some more work than usual on the character assassination part. You don't get really more harmless seeming than white, blonde, yoga instructor. Since no weapon was found it won't be the case of the infamous urban ice pistol that disappears after it fires no rounds. They are going to have produce something, the fact that the body cameras aren't on is going to be a sticking point.

I wonder how the "cops never do wrong" types you get on social media are justifying this one. What a terribly sad situation, I hope everyone involved is prosecuted.
