Ok the title of this thread is somewhat misleading. According to MacCentral, the beta will be available Q3 this year: http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/2003/05/14/blizzard/
So was there doubt that Blizzard wasn't going to support the Mac? or is it out now on the Mac first, PCers get it later (I wish )?
http://www.blizzard.com/wow/e3/2003/pressrelease-mac.shtml Im sorry I should have provided a link Its for OS X and it will probably not be out at the same time as the PC version but I hope it is, The have a working version at E3 right now so it sounds good
This is VERY cool news, and helps me justify even more my move to a Mac (Well, still on a PC, but moving soon I hope, LOL). Been looking forward to this one for a long time as it will probably fill my gaming needs for many years once it's out! Woohoo!
I dont know about that, they released warcraft III on a hybrid CD and that had a major development cycle as well. Blizzard know how to make mac games quickly and judging by their tendancy to vigourosly test and test and test, i can see the mac version coming out as a concurrent release or maybe just (very) soon after.
they said "The game will initially be available for PCs. " This might change but I doubt it, I think it will come very soon after the PC version..... yes it will run on the new power book Blizzard is very good at making games look great and making them run on a wide range of machines
Ohh... I might have to get this instead of EQ for the mac (already have EQ on pc, but pc is a bit dated hence dont play it a lot anymore).
its confirmed on the blizzard FAQ the mac version will come out the same time as the PC version Im glad I was wrong, its just I have been following this game for a long time and it didnt look so good up until E3
Very cool. A dual release of a pretty major game is great for Mac Gaming. We need more things like this to happen before we can seriously contend in the gaming arena.
Ya I hear ya, the only thing is, blizzard is one of the only gaming companies that takes the mac platefom seriously
