Worse accidental damage you’ve repaired with AppleCare+?

I decided to finally try mailing my MacBook Pro 2015 15” in for a repair as the chassis is bent inward(towards the screen) and I noticed the screen beginning to delaminates towards the top. Both purely cosmetic issues but they have been driving me crazy. I went to the Apple Store a few months ago, thinking it was a battery issue, but I was told that it wasn’t and it was considered accidental. Followed by the Apple rep telling me that Apple doesn’t do AppleCare+ accidental damage on my MacBook Pro Mid-2015 (Iris ONLY)since it is an early model? o_O And that I would need to pay $700+ to get it fixed. It was manufacted in 2018 and bought with AppleCare+, one would think that would be covered by their new policy. Otherwise don’t sell the machine with it stated that accidental damage is covered. Anyway, mini rant over, I contacted Apple Support today and asked about getting my MBP repaired/possible statement as I felt the original one wasn’t right. Sent pictures of the accidental damage, and the delamination of the display. Apple support rep. Charged me $107 to send it and including repair fee? Although this could be subject to change if there were any other issues. Hopefully this will go smoothly but anyway, out of curiosity, what’s the worst accidental damage you’ve done and covered with AppleCare+?

Luckily I haven’t had to do an Apple Care+ claim on a MBP yet....

... however I did forget my iPhone was in my winter jacket pocket when I decided to wash it once and put it through a wash and spin.

I have also had a cracked display repaired on my Surface Pro when I forgot I had the pen laying on the keyboard, but MS was really cool about it since I had only had it a couple of weeks and replaced the unit with another brand new one without making me use one of my 2 claims.

I'm surprised you managed to crack it like that, if I'm imagining it the right way. Wouldn't you need to slam the Surface shut to do that?

That’s pretty much what I did. I was running late, snapped it shut quickly by grabbing the display and keyboard. Sort of like slamming a book shut. Pushing the display and keyboard together. Heard a little bit of a noise and the keyboard separated and pen fell out. Didn’t see any sign of damage at the time.

But when I powered it back on there was a dark line that I had on first glance thought was a hair stuck to the display and tried to rub it away with a microfiber cloth. I then rubbed it with my fingernail and could feel a slight hairline crack.

I called the local store to ask them how I go about filing a claim, but they said “Oh man, you have only had that like 2 weeks. Just back it up and bring it in and we won’t file a claim.” So that’s what I did. No problems since. :)
