the two things that are just obsurd

Gingrich also took aim at Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who recently sent a letter to insurance industry leaders warning them not to "falsely blame premium increases" on the recently passed health care legislation. If she's going to represent left-wing thought police about Obamacare, she should be forced to resign by the new Congress," he said.

what on earth does that require for her to be resign?

Then There is this bunch of Epic fail that I'm just so annoyed with to begin with. Perhaps the former House Speaker's loudest applause came when he weighed in on the controversial Islamic center and mosque proposed to be built near ground zero, declaring, "We as Americans don't have to tolerate people who are supportive of violence against us, building something at the sight of the violence."

"This is not about religious liberty, they want to build that mosque in the South Bronx, frankly they need the jobs," he said. "But I am totally opposed to any effort to impose Sharia on the United States, and we should have a federal law that says under no circumstance, in any jurisdiction in the United States, will Sharia be used in any court to apply to any judgment made about American law."

Connecting your political opponents with terrorists is pretty ridiculous - especially without good reason.

Republicans tend to resort to name calling, it's a reflection on their maturity level. we democrats get called "socialists" "communist" "damn liberals", and lots of other colorful words. i find it funny that they consider liberal to be a bad thing, when in my head its a very positive word. isn't being non-liberal the same as being controlling and uptight? i dont want to be controlling as uptight...

Well Boehner showed hope saying he would vote for a bill that only extended the Bush tax cuts for the people making $250,000 or less. But, the Republicans distanced themselves from him predictably.....

    Oh, wait, no!

He flip flopped after he was blasted by everyone from Mitch McConnel to Sarah Palin to Rick Perry.

Silly Boehner. Don't you know that reasonable compromise for the benefit of the American people isn't you party's platform?

At least it was the first time a Republican came to the table and compromise with the Democrats.

Damn it! There goes that hope.

I'm hoping that some of those Newty comments were taken out of context. My fear is that they weren't.

I think its pretty unlikely that the ones in the Economist were taken out of context. They don't exactly have an agenda against the US republican party :(.

There may not be a positive outcome this election, but I think this trend conservatives are taking won't play as well two years from now.

They're just taking this rhetoric waaay too far and are going to alienate the majority of Americans.

    So keep it up Republicans.

I'd love to see how it works out for you in 2012.

Personally, I tend to disagree with fertilizer-spreading conflators. For Example, from the linked article:
Ok, "South Bronx"? There is a controversial mosque site in the South Bronx? Is Manhattan just an extension of the Bronx?

But WTH does this sharia nonsense come from? Is he telling us that building a YMIA will lead to a total Muslim take-over of the .us?

"How do you know she's a witch?"
"She turned me into a Newt"
    "A Newt?"
    "I got better"
