Hi all,

Anyone else finding that the Xbox series X controller is really patchy when using with 14.5?

Disconnected at least 3 times in a 45 minute period earlier today. It wasn’t that bad, even when using the betas!

To be fair, it does say that I need a firmware update on my controller, but I’m unable to do that as I dont have an Xbox or any access to a Windows PC.

As I said, it’s a little frustrating as it was generally working fine during the 14.5beta’s. You’d think that now we have a full release, there wouldn’t be any issues!

This also happens with my xbox series x so I think it's normal! lol

Also, in Big Sur 11.3, the "newly" added support does absolutely nothing. Games that already do support older Xbox controllers continue to NOT support the Series S/X controllers. I'm not sure what the new "support" in MacOS is supposed to do. I was able to pair my controller even before this new update.

I’ve been attempting to play DiRT4 with the series S/X controller. Whilst the game sees it, it doesn’t work.

Apple Arcade games seem to work with it, but I guess it’s up to the developers to enable support in game for it. I’m guessing it could take a while.

I just got one of these controllers and its working with metro exodus. I keep getting a bluetooth setting popup that says the controller firmware need updating. I don't own and Xbox or a PC so I cant work out how i'm going to update the firmware...

Same situation here - needs a firmware update, but I have no way of doing it. I've since given up with it on MacOS and am sticking to using it on iPadOS.

Hey so I’ve been using this controller with a firmware update with an Xbox One and an Xbox Series X and you’re not going to believe this but are you using like off brand batteries or even energizer or anything like that? These controllers can only run on duracell max batteries. I don’t want to overstep my bounds by saying that but I had a ton of disconnects when using the batteries that came with the new Xbox ironically and had a really hard time with energizer also. Duracell is good though. Try this and is there a gaming cafe of some sort where you live where you could update the formware by any chance?
